slapshot Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Awesome pics Thanks for sharing. More than a day trip for me. Will plan better next year.
showbuilder Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 thanks for posting the pics. i was glad i got to meet you, hope to see you there next year.
mikemodeler Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Great show and I wish I could have spent more time and money while I was there. The models looked great and a nice bunch of vendors as well. Met Donn Yost and talked to him about his DVD and I bought one based upon our conversation. I plan to study it and use his techniques as I am ready to take my modeling to that level. Thanks for the pictures, it is great to see the models again. I will say that the paint jobs on the low rider models were outstanding and while it isn't my cup of tea, I do admire the builders' skills in laying down those many colors and designs!
GHoneycutt Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 More PICS here. http://public.fotki.com/ghoneycutt/model-pics/carolina-kustom-mod/
DrewCfromSC Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Well glad I did not go! My skills pretty much suck compared to these photos! Ok I really wanted to go but finances kept me away, and im serious about my skills. Hey we all gotta restart somewhere dont we? Hope to make some shows soon. Is their a calender of events for the Carolinas or Georgia. Im in the Columbia area. Drew C. from S.C.
LoneWolf15 Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Drew, Not attending or participating in a show because of a lack of skills does'nt make sense. Believe me , you can learn alot at the shows ! A large percentage of the modelers that attend these shows will be more than happy to answer your questions and help you out !
showbuilder Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 donn is right, get something on the table and start learning. cover all your modeling basics and enter into a boxstock class. this will keep you from going up against all the aftermarket stuff and scratchbuilt builds. i build to compete, but i'll answer any question a fellow modeller may have. the main thing is to have fun and keep getting better, it's addictive.

I don't "build to compete" but I do enter shows just to show what can & is being done in large scale. (about the only thing I build anymore) I also enjoy talking with other modelers about their builds and pestering them about "how they did it" heh heh heh. You can learn a lot by looking and asking questions. Take your camera too, you can go back and look at the pics to get inspiration or details you want to remember. As Hunter said, "the main thing is to have fun and keep getting better".
