sjordan2 Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Saw this link on another forum. Amazing, and amazingly huge. http://www.dell-knives.de/sskl/index.html
sjordan2 Posted August 26, 2010 Author Posted August 26, 2010 I did a little digging and it turns out the builder, Wolfgang Dell, is a professional custom knifemaker and engraver. His website shows his facilities and his knives (if you don't speak German, you won't learn a whole lot here). Couldn't find any info on model cars. http://www.dell-knives.de/pub/page.asp?l=de&id=3&id2=9
Jim Gibbons Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Holy smokes! Way over the top. Amazing model of one of my favorite MBs. I do prefer the SSK with the full fenders, etc., though, mainly for the aesthetics. The L (Leicht for "light") version is still really neat, though.

Jantrix Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 One would wonder if you are going to go through all that work to build something 1:4 scale, how much more work would it have really been to make it 1:1? Awesome work though.

Awesome work though. Check these out. Custom made one-of-a-kind scale model pedal cars, 1:2.5. Built in 1997 by a father and son in Duisburg, Germany. Only factory made pieces are the headlights, wheels and tires. http://dfwelitetoymuseum.com/special-rare-toys/1928-mercedes-benz-ssk/ Edited August 26, 2010 by sjordan2
Harry P. Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Harry, ich kenne nicht über Sie, aber ich bin nicht Englisch! Bist du ein Berliner? (like JFK was)...
Jim Gibbons Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Bist du ein Berliner? (like JFK was)... As a humorous aside, in German, the article (ein) isn't used in the context of which city you're from. JFK should have said, "Ich bin Berliner!" If I recall, ein Berliner is some sort of pastry. Of course, the Germans knew what JFK meant, and not that he considered himself a jelly roll!

Awesome work though. That's exactly what I was thinking.....it's almost as much work to make everything out of brass in FULL scale, and it is in 1/4.....even easier for the nuts and bolts!!!

But he didn't want to build a "real" car... he wanted to build a scale replica.
Harry P. Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 ....and park it on a table in his backyard... "Not that there's anything wrong with that!"
