This is something different for you guys. I buy here and there a few old build-ups and as a fun build I rebuild them somewhat in a few days. This one I wanted to look like an old hot rod that was not finished but a driver. So I paid 3.00 for this car and then went out and bought the reissue kit to rebuild the old one. (I know, I know doesn’t make any sense) This build up had a certain look to it so I wanted to keep it as close as it was. I used all new chrome and windows from the reissue. Front splash pan, tailgate, hood and painted them with red primer. Wheels and tires are from an old Monogram sprint car and the world famous “ARTERAKEâ€. I added a steering wheel from Revell 59 Impala and foiled most of the body. I totally rebuilt a motor adding a prewired distributor (I love those things!) and an air cleaner from Revell 68 Corvette. It’s not perfect but, I wanted to retain that old look but, finish it in a few days. That’s the fun of this kind of builds.

Irv..

your el camino really brings back memories.

I used to walk by an old barn that sat about 30 feet from the road. The door was broken and in the barn there was a 59 just like yours(same color or VERY close)that sat up on blocks..All i could see was the drivers side and rear..I finally asked about it(and more than once after)and was told he would never part with it.It looked ALOT like your build.

very nice!

Who says you can't buy Patina!

Thats a very cool build, especially using the red primer for some replaced panels. If I ever found a built up like that, I'd try it also.

You picked that up at the last CPMCC meeting didn't you? I remember seeing it thinking you were going to spend months cleaning it up, putting on the typical Arter glass-smooth paint job, maybe some pegasus wheels...I think I like the beater look better. Awesome car! Very cool stuff!

That is a 1967-69 Barracuda IIRC, tha only years they made that body style (which I think was it's most beyuuutiful rendition) and was also tha last year that Plymouth used tha name Barracuda.
