The Modeling Hermit Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I grew up in Iowa, and I remember seeing many old farm trucks that looked like they'd just escaped from a junk yard. What I have here is a 37 Chevy pickup as would be found in the late fifties to early sixties. This one shows many years of driving on gravel roads and use on the farm. Since my original intent was to show it in action, I've also included a driver.
FuzionTheAce Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Awesome, the aging is amazing and the rotted bed is superb. She's seen better days but still is perty!
Foxer Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 The dirt looks good on this ... what did you use for it?
Greg Cullinan Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I can hear the Tim McGraw song from here. Nice weathering and nice build.
DRG Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 good Lord man send it to a restoration shop. looks well used I'll say that.
charlie8575 Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 The dirt looks good on this ... what did you use for it? Mike beat me to my question. Very nice job. Charlie Larkin
Jon Cole Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 (edited) 1937 Chevy Pickup: Perhaps you meant to say 1947? No matter, it looks great! Edited September 8, 2010 by Jon Cole
von Zipper Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 That looks good, nice job on the weathering, BUT your truck depicts a 1941-1946, the 1937 Chevy pick up looks very different-like a '37 Chevy car.

AH! That's why I couldn't place this! I wasn't thinking about the '41 at all! Charlie Larkin
The Modeling Hermit Posted September 8, 2010 Author Posted September 8, 2010 Good catch on the year, and thanks for the correction. I'm working on a 37 Ford panel right now, and had that going through my brain. Yes it is the 41 Chevy. I built this several years ago, and the dirt is actually crushed stone from Iowa's gravel roads. I appreciate all the kind comments.
Railfreak78 Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Very realistic looking workhorse. Great work. It really looks passable as a 1:1
scalemodelworld Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Awesome! Some of the best work I think I've seen
Danno Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 That's rotten. And that's good! Good to see your build posted ... been awhile.
