I have the above mentioned kit. It has no engine, except for a plate, or opening hood, and a one piece frame. It also has many many words inscribed on the frame about its features. I know older vintage 64 Galaxies are getting big $$$. I was wondering what was the purpose of this kit. I mean what was it intended for? Was it a dealer promo model? I plan on building a Frank Butler Osburn Trucking nostalgia car, like in the pic. Sorry for the dumb question, but any answers would be much appreciated.

It's basically an unassembled promo as a lot of old AMT and Johan kits were. The lettering on the chassis was there to advertise the features of the 1/1 car.

Go ahead and use it be careful cutting the hood out I believe there is a resin teardrop hood available

also use the 60 starliner chassis you will be much happier!!

Thank you so much my friends. I am currently looking at the 64 resin hood on Competition Resins website. Decals are in the mail now. Found some Tamiya racing white paint today.

bigphoto...is the Starliner chassis basically the same without the lettering? Or is it a chassis I can add an detailed engine to? Thanks again.

This is the same basic kit which was reissued by Model King a few years back- it's about on par with the '64 Comet kit.

I have one somewhere that I've added the '60 Starliner chassis and floor to, but it's a long way from being done. I also cut open the hood- I will say be careful here, because the plastic is pretty thick!

Just won an open Starliner kit, with a painted body, on Ebay, for about $6.00. Everything else is untouched. Looks like I found a chassis. Too bad one of the model manufactures, AMT, or Revell, does not make a kit of this particular Galaxie, with all the nice details.

Now I gotta get my hands on a 427 engine for it. Probably will make a hood scoop for it.
