curt raitz Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I had lunch with Raul Perez a couple of monthes ago and he gave me two 1/16th scale kits that he and our friend Al Monthei had started to build. Al had started the Revell 34 Ford, engine and chassis were finished just needed to finish interior and body. Al being AL...he had cut the doors and trunk lid out to be hinged..I hinged the trunk but ended up gluing the doors back in place. The interior tub and and the door panels just did not line up to hinge w/o major-major surgery...now I know why Al did not finish the model Painted body MM Daytona Yellow with two coats of MM Ultra Gloss Clear over it: thanx for lookin'
Raul_Perez Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Very nice completion, Curt!! Actually, I built the engine and chassis. As you said, Al cut out the doors and trunk before he too realized that the interior panels needed more work than he wanted to put into it to make them look good when they were opened. You did the right thing gluing them shut...this way they at least look like they'll open. Thanks for finishing it!! Later,

It was fun and special to finish a model that both you and Al had played with, kinda like a "three stooges build" "the only good door is a closed door" c'ya buddy
hossalimi Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 Curt my man! The 34 came out really nice. Knowing Al, he found a flaw in the kit somewhere and had to put it back in the box. Glad to see the "Three Amigos" connection completing yet another model. Knowing how things go, it'll proabably end up in my display case!!!
LDO Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 I'm guessing that license plate didn't come with the kit.
