I won't be responding to any posts or questions. It's just too frustrating dealing with the administration of this forum - both human and software-driven.

As to the human kind: The inmates are running the assylum.

As to the software kind it's just not worth. If I can eventually log in after six attempts, then it's only MINUTES before I get kicked off. The ONLY help I've received with this problem has come from members. None, zilch, nada has come from the so called administrators.

Sorry about the brevity. I'd like to expxnd on my explanation but I fear being bumped off again.

I'd help you out technically, but I'm not geek enough to know what to tell you. Have you asked Gregg?

As to your problem with the inmates running the asylum... since Mark bailed, it's only me trying to keep the inmates in line, and I can't be on here 24/7. I do my best, but as one person I can only do so much.

Gregg's fix didn't help. I've requested to be put in contact with his technical support with a response from him.

In fairness to you, Harry, you have consistently stated you can't help.

Even with us both here it was making no real difference Harry. It was like trying to keep the tide from coming in using a bucket. Recent events just drove that home for me, & let me know it wasn't worth my time or effort anymore. Now I can find the aspects of the forum that bring be pleasure, & overlook those that annoy me.

:D

Well, I guess I'm going to need a bigger bucket!

And Steve...since it seems only you are having these problems, it's a safe guess that the problem is on your end, not on this end... otherwise a lot of members would be having the same problems. You might want to check with your ISP, or maybe try downloading and installing a different browser. I use Firefox, and have no problems with this site (or any other site).

Yeah, and it's time for me to step up and say Thank You Harry. I know it's a big responsibility and time-consuming. I appreciate what you do to keep the forum running and I thoroughly enjoy the forum.

Where's that new moderator that was supposedly coming on line to help you out, Harry?

You've done a good job, as best you can, all by your lonesome, but sometimes the 'one town, one ranger' thing just doesn't work. You're gonna burn out, too, if you don't get some quality help!

I'd like to second the call for Firefox- I use it with no problems. Out of curiousity what forum skin are you using? Sometimes it can be as simple that causing problems remaining logged on or posting.

I'd just like to add that I feel the moderator(s) are doing a good job here. I say that because whenever I visit I rarely see negative comments or threads. Sure- I know they exist but it's pretty easy to avoid threads that quite obviously exist simply to be abrasive. Threads like that don't seem very common at all here though.

Perhaps if it's all too much we need to have a different moderator for each sub forum- many hands making light work. And I'm sure we have enough mature, good natured members here to make that happen- finding those who are keen to take on the responsibility might be the trouble though.

Gregg decided not to appoint any new moderators at this time.

Oh. Okay. Well, good luck. Seems like a big job for just one person! ;)

I have no problems login in, and I've been logged on for a few hours now. I too would suspect the problem is not here.

I never log out. Every time I open up the forum, I'm already logged in. Don't see any reason to constantly log out and back in every time I visit the forum.

I am right here in Beautiful, choke, Cleveland, Ohio and I have zero problems with this Web-Site or any other.

I use IE8. and have now for some time, the only time I have issues staying logged in is when my Internet provider loses me, which ain't often, just during a bad storm, like it was mentioned, it could be over at you're end of the web, you're server, the skin, or you're browser needs updating that's all I can come up with, sorry bud....

Harry, as you know I've been down this road before with SMC for more years than I care to remember and I'm pretty thick skinned, if you need a helping hand, email me privately.
