Ok here I am with a new project. The MPC 1970 Super Bee. I was talking to my grandpa today about his first car. It was a 1970 Dodge Super Bee. He bought it in '70 for $5,000. It was blue with a 440 Six-pack and a optional Hurst shifter. His birthday is getting near so I thought I would build him a model of his Bee. Here is the story and build of Will Henderson's first car.

The Story

Will gets ready to head on down to the local Dodge Dealership to purchase the shiny new 1970 Dodge Super Bee with a 440 Six-Pack

and optional Hurst shifter.

The Build

The paint will be Testor's One Coat Lacquer "Star-Spangled Blue"

The 440 has been painted Model Master "HEMI Orange" and detailed.

The optional 426 HEMI will be going into my parts box.

Enjoy!;)

You are off to a good start, Brandon! I have built two of these kits and they went together with little trouble. Just remember to trim the bottom of the vent windows on the windshield or the interior will not fit properly. Looking forward to more. And Herst is spelled Hurst.

So that's why the interior tub and glass don't seem to quite go together right. Thanks for that, Mike.

Brandon- keep it coming. The engine looks good and I'll look forward to seeing the rest.

Brandon- Nice work on the Bee theres one little tidbit i wanted to mention when it comes time to assemble the frame glue the subframe onto the frame and spray the whole unit in primer gray and mist spray some of that blue that youre using to replicate the factory overspray and also paint the suspension pieces in semi-gloss black. The lower control arms in zinc chromemate. I hope this helps.

Branden,

The inner fenders also have a fit issue with the engine bay, so painting the engine bay before the test fit might have been a little premature. Look up a 'Twin Bees' build thread here by sickfish (Cliff); he was doing two at once and was superdetailing them, plus showing us how he fixed some of the kits ill-fit issues.

The 'Bee looks good so far, keep it going.

Yep, the vent windows threw me for a loop but other than that it's a great kit! Looks great!
