Mr. Moparman Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 (edited) Ok here I am with a new project. The MPC 1970 Super Bee. I was talking to my grandpa today about his first car. It was a 1970 Dodge Super Bee. He bought it in '70 for $5,000. It was blue with a 440 Six-pack and a optional Hurst shifter. His birthday is getting near so I thought I would build him a model of his Bee. Here is the story and build of Will Henderson's first car. The Story Will gets ready to head on down to the local Dodge Dealership to purchase the shiny new 1970 Dodge Super Bee with a 440 Six-Pack and optional Hurst shifter. The Build The paint will be Testor's One Coat Lacquer "Star-Spangled Blue" The 440 has been painted Model Master "HEMI Orange" and detailed. The optional 426 HEMI will be going into my parts box. Enjoy! Edited September 20, 2010 by Master Modeller
mrmike Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 (edited) You are off to a good start, Brandon! I have built two of these kits and they went together with little trouble. Just remember to trim the bottom of the vent windows on the windshield or the interior will not fit properly. Looking forward to more. And Herst is spelled Hurst. Edited September 20, 2010 by mrmike

The engine looks good and I'll look forward to seeing the rest. Charlie Larkin

Charlie Larkin charlie they took the chassis system fromthe 1969 roadrunner/gtx kit and stuck it in this kit,the same chassis will also replace the chassis in the dukes/charger500/1970 charger fast and furious kits
Mr. Moparman Posted September 21, 2010 Author Posted September 21, 2010 The Story When Will arrives at the dealership He tells the sales rep what car he want's and they start filling out paperwork. The Build I have got the most part of the body painted. It still needs a few touchup's here and there, I have sanded and detailed the Goodyear tires, Enjoy!
Mr. Moparman Posted September 25, 2010 Author Posted September 25, 2010 The Story Will finishes the last bit of paperwork and hands it to the sales rep. While the salesrep goes to get the keys Will walks over to the Parts Dept. and askes the guy at the counter if he can get a can of Street HEMI orange for his latest Mopar model. The Build I finished the 440 Six-Pack this morning, The inner fenders and firewall have been assembled and painted, The body has been painted, detailed, decals applied, and clearcoat added, Enjoy!
mrmike Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 Brandon, yours will look somewhat like mine! Except, mine's a Hemi!
Keef Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 absolutely beautiful!!!! my all time favorite car!!
Car Crazy 81 Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 Brandon- Nice work on the Bee theres one little tidbit i wanted to mention when it comes time to assemble the frame glue the subframe onto the frame and spray the whole unit in primer gray and mist spray some of that blue that youre using to replicate the factory overspray and also paint the suspension pieces in semi-gloss black. The lower control arms in zinc chromemate. I hope this helps.
Bridgebuster Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Brandon, looking good buddy. Keep up the good work, but don't rush it. Keep us posted my friend.
whale392 Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Branden, The inner fenders also have a fit issue with the engine bay, so painting the engine bay before the test fit might have been a little premature. Look up a 'Twin Bees' build thread here by sickfish (Cliff); he was doing two at once and was superdetailing them, plus showing us how he fixed some of the kits ill-fit issues. The 'Bee looks good so far, keep it going.
Mr. Moparman Posted October 5, 2010 Author Posted October 5, 2010 This build stalled for a litlle bit as I was worried bout' some other stuff. I PROMISE I will get back on this build asap
davyou5 Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 That is Awsome, I really hope that your Grandfather Loves it ! I also really like the Story Telling, it makes someone want to follow through.
Mr. Moparman Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 The Story As Will heads from the dealership to his girlfriend's house to show her his new car, he stops by his LHS and picks up a MPC '70 Charger kit. The Build I got this bad boy up on four wheels and the chassis has been completed. The intierior has been completed, This will probaly be the last "major" update on this build before it's completed but there may be a few "minor" updates so Enjoy! Enjoy!
