roadhawg Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 This past Saturday at the Bonneville Salt Flats, Georgia's Bobby Cleveland set a new land speed record of 96.529 MPH, breaking the old record by 8 MPH. I know, 96.529 doesn't sound THAT fast.....except he did it on a Briggs And Stratton powered lawnmower.
Zoom Zoom Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 If he's here in GA he can come by and cut my grass, should take about 30 seconds or so
Jon Cole Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Put a wing on the back! Just because you can!
Hoosierfarmboy Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 (edited) That sounds wild. Not sure I would want to be on a lawnmower moving that fast. Do they have a stremliner class for lawnmowers? When I lived in Flowery Branch my yard was too hilly for a speedy mower! :-) lol Edited September 27, 2010 by Hoosierfarmboy
highway Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 I wonder if Tim Taylor's mower would go even faster?
Doughnut Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 I wonder if he still had the kill switch in the seat? Looks like a god subject for someone to model in 1/24th scale. Have at it.
Brett Barrow Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Back in High School, a couple of buddies and I made a "racing" lawnmower, we just took an old chain-drive mower and reversed the sprockets, putting the big one on the engine and the little one on the axle. You had to push start it, it felt like it did 96.5 MPH when you were riding that thing, was probably closer to 30-35 MPH, it was as fast as a go-kart. Turning was an adventure.
