junkman1153 Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 one of the cars i have often wondered if it was ever available is the early 70's rivieras. i figured on the resin if they exist you could use the 76 caprice for the frame.
george 53 Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Ralph, I have one by R&R Resins that i got quite a few years ago. I've been told it was a copy of All Americans 72 Riv. It looks like a bit of a handfull to build, with ALOT of grinding needing to be done. But it does come with just about everything you need to finish it, other than an engine and tires/wheels. There MAY be another floatin around out there, but A.A.'s and R&R'S are the ONLY two Riv's of those years that I know of.
jeffb Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 sad that the boatails were not done properly. my stepdad came here from romania in 1969. he got his first car in 71..a 69 riviera gs. he then bought his first brand new car. a 73 riviera. he gave me the 69 as my first car in 76.. those are two of my top five fav cars of all time.
junkman1153 Posted October 6, 2010 Author Posted October 6, 2010 i always liked the 71 and 72 actually i liked most everything buick had to offer in those years. i owned quite a few buicks in that year range. hands down favorite was a red 71 centurian convertible with red and white interior black top buckets auto on the floor
davyou5 Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 (edited) I hope that there is a better kit out there some time soon. Due South is one of my favorite TV Show's, so I would make Ray's Green Buick Riviera as kind of a theme to the show's car. Which also now reminds me to place this in on another topic. sjordan2 Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 (edited) What does R+R stand for? Do you have a link? Edited October 6, 2010 by sjordan2
ZIL 111V Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 ...Always wondered how come this beauty (1971) was never kitted in recent years, surely one of the most "daring" car design of the 70's. To bad Buick & AMT back stopped the annual Promo/kit in 1969, a '71-'73 Rivy Promo/kit would have been great. With all the Lowrider "craze" back in late 90's mid 00's in model car kits tought we would see this "Queen" in 1/25th Lowrider form especially from Revell (fully detailed, curbside or metal kits) at least we got it 1/64 diecast ...If '72 Cutlass marketable...surely a '71 Rivy will come one day Good luck with resin kit.
The Modeling Hermit Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 These were some of my favorite cars. We modelers really missed out on a lot of automotive history from the seventies. I loved the full sized cars of the first half of the decade. I owned a 71 and a 76 Olds 98, a two 72 Ford Galaxies, 72 and 76 Impalas, and a 75 Dodge. I also thought that the roof treatment on the 75-78 Ford LTD 2 door hardtops were cool. If any model companies are looking for "virgin" material to model; here it is.
george 53 Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 What does R+R stand for? Do you have a link? Skip, R&R stands for Ray and Ruth Parsons. Mrs. Parsons is a REAL cool lady to talk with. She WILL remember your name should you ever be fortunate to meet her. NICE lady!
charlie8575 Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 I remember reading someplace that MPC made these when new as annuals? If so, they must be very, very rare. Can anywhere verify the accuracy of this? Charlie Larkin
