Joe Handley Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 A co-worker's family inherited this from a relative who supposedly paid around $2200 for it nearly 20 years back. They think there might be only two in existence and the other one is supposed to be in a museum. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v698/bjoehandley/Byrons%20Mystery%20Car/ Anybody have a clue as to what it is and how much it might be worth?
MyBradKeselowski Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Not for sure what you would call it, but I would think it's worth 10 times the amount paid for it at today's prices...
Corvette.Jeff Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 if nobody here can tell you i found this site on google http://indyroadsters.webs.com/forums if the link doesnt work(posting from my iphone) google search indycarbuilders and it should come up. jeff cool whatever it is though!!
DrewCfromSC Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Looks pretty cool. Is it metal, aluminaum, wood, plastic? Length (18-24"?) looks like a tether or thimbledrone car to me. See them on ebay for a bit less. Guess the economy influiences collectors prices. Pretty cool. Did you get to keep it? Looks great, hang it on a wall, or trade it to me!
Crazy Ed Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Hi Joe Looks like you've got yourself a 50's Offy Powered Sprint Car. Google - offenhauser "miracle power" sprint car and you'll be able to I.D. the Car. As to the Model there appears to be a makers name and model number on the floor of the cockpit. Someones name with the number 038 below it. They ought to lead you to better info on the model and it's history. Ed
Joe Handley Posted October 17, 2010 Author Posted October 17, 2010 Good eye on the floorpan there Ed, thanks on both counts. I'll make sure to show him this thread when we work together again. Here's a close up of what's on the floor, it almost looks like it says Ron Fournier if I'm reading that right. I have to admit this camera is great for these kinds of little things
DanielG Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 http://www.fournierenterprises.com Check it out.
Joe Handley Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 Aha, I knew there was a reason that name sounded familiar, I've read a number of his articles in one of the Street Rod publications in years past! According to the PDF on that forum, they produced a car that is identical to my co-worker's for the price that is about what they thought this relative paid for it years back! Thanks Guys!
