Jantrix Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 (edited) After some of the "on the workbench thread bashing" that went on recently I figured I'd wait until I'd gone a little further than just opening the celophane. This is going to be a nice clean flat black rod with a rack for the boards and still have a usable bed. It's the Monogram 40 pick-up with the bed from the Revell 50 F-1. The engine is a y-block from the AMT 57 Ford. Critiques welcome. Edited October 23, 2010 by Jantrix
oldscool Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 I love the blanket!:)But don't you now have a 1/24 cab with a 1/25 bed? It looks good in the pics anyway. oldscool
george 53 Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 So far so good. But I gotta agree, that blanket is REALLY cool! Where'd ya get it? or didja make it???
Jantrix Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 George, I made the blanket with a cloth lint-free wipe that you might find in a machine shop. It was colored with fabric markers (good ones). The lint free wipes are not real easy to find, I grabbed a few from work. And yes, my scales are all screwy now, but it all works.
Corvette.Jeff Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 I to like the mexican blanket. wait.....I have one on the backseat of my 1:1, does that make it a ratrod? Im really likin the look so far.
Railfreak78 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 I like the way this one is going. Cool project and surfs up dude
Jantrix Posted October 23, 2010 Author Posted October 23, 2010 More work done on my 40 Surf Rod. I've changed the title from "surf rat" because there won't be anything the least bit ratty about this pick-up. Cab and hood get the flat black tomorrow. I've glued the doors into the cab shell and added diamond plate to the bed to make it look more ffunctional for a surf rod than a wood bed that would get beat up and damaged from sand, salt and water. Critiques welcome as usual.
