Sport Suburban Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 I recently built a few Corvette's and I decided to build a 64 from an AMT 63 Corvette Roadster kit. I thought it would be interesting to build it with the headlights exposed. As fate would have it I ended up with another kit for parts so If I screwed up I had a spare body. Here it is in the final stages of mock up. What do you think?
Tumbler75 Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 I say run with it. I like the differentness of building it with the lights in the up/exposed position. I can't wait to see more on this build. Vettes are the all time American Sports Car. I'll be watchin'.
wisdonm Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Some Covettes from the past, mounted the lights further back on a flat panel and covered them with body shaped clear Plexiglas like a Chaparral 2.
ChrisPflug Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Build it functional- so that the lights flip up
AceofBass Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Either leave them exposed or make it so they can be flipped into either position. Not many have done it..
kelson Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Looks like a great idea!,any plans to try and adapt the exposed headlights to Monograms 67'vette convertible?
Sport Suburban Posted November 2, 2010 Author Posted November 2, 2010 Looks like a great idea!,any plans to try and adapt the exposed headlights to Monograms 67'vette convertible? No plans to do this again but I don't know when I'll get to the 67. Maybe do one as a ten year old used car with a winking headlight and some wear.
