doomcrew Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 this was built along side the chopped 30 A 5 window. the kit is the revel "good guys" 29/30 sedan. an old 29 roadster chassis was modified with a scratchbuilt floor. the roof was chopped a painted with Ford Signal Yellow laquer, this was left to harden about half way so that i could chip at the paint. this was then airbrushed with water based custom mixed rust (3 shades) and when each colour was dry, i lightly sanded the surface. the flathead is from a revell 48 Ford, the tyres are stock kit items, but had to be modified to fit the torque thrusts. many other parts were scavenged from the other kits and scratchbuilt. thanks for looking. steve 1
Models by Bear Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Very Nice never built a Rat Rod might have to try it
Chuck Most Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Really dig the patina- almost has a kind of camouflage quality to it.
Dr. Cranky Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 The paint finish is very interesting. On first look I though you had sprayed real flames on there. I like it. Cool.
kerc Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Awesome, that thing looks dangerous! Perfect stance!
W-409 Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 That's very nice Rat Rod. Usually, I don't really like rat rods, because they are rusty... But this one looks very good to me and that rust looks very realistic and stance is very good too. I also like that engine, it's very nice, I think. Interior is great, nothing unnecessary there. Nice detailing gives finishing toughes to it. I like to build these Rat Rods because it's not so critical is you fail somewhere, it can be fixed with rust, for example. This is very nice.
doomcrew Posted January 13, 2011 Author Posted January 13, 2011 cheers everybody. it was something different as most of my rides are shiny with just a hint of use. but this was a challenge doing the patina, and modifying the bodywork considering the thickness, or lack of thickness in the plastic. steve
