If you sand off a script or a piece of chrome trim on a resin body, then prime it,would you see an outline of that detail?

i would say no but hell cant get it out of reg plastic! Try it

I've personally had it happen quite a bit with styrene, but never resin. I actually think doing body mods in resin is a bit easier in most respects than styrene plastic.

This is pretty interesting. I've heard about, but never experienced ghosting myself. I'm wondering if the reason is that I usually sand the whole body down so the emblem area is the same texture as everywhere else and solvent absorbsion is equal everywhere.

Ghosting due to solvent absorbsion still seems odd as when an emblem is removed the area around it gets sanded equal.

To eliminate ghosting in styrene, sand it flush. Then brush tenax over the area,( this will "expose " the detail again) now sand, prime and you should not get ghosts....this usually only happins with lacquers

Thanks Z Man!!;)

The absolute worst plastic for this, I've found, is the greasy gray plastic RC2 was using for a while. It would ghost sometimes even with hobby lacquers and primers. Usually you didn't have to worry about ghosts unless you were using some sort of automotive paints or a hot thinner in your airbrush.

Yes, old RC2 plastic is the worst! I can attest to that much. I took to using a barrier or sealer on those.

Oh, you also don't need to worry about ghosts if they're friendly. ;)

The answer to Bob's question is no. If you're getting what appears to be ghosting on a RESIN piece,it could be possibly two things. (1) You haven't actually sanded off all of the trim, and primering accents this. Or (2)There is 'ghosting 'left in the master before it was cast, due to a number of causes. BTW,the Tenax trick works great on plastic, but has no effect on resin. Steve Zimmerman aka the'Z'man

I use an EMF field detector, digital recorder, and low lux video cameras to find ghosts.

Uh, Oh sorry wrong ghosts.

Seriously, Ditto all the above especially the Tenax trick.
