And finally, we have the beginnings of the new space. Hope to complete in about 6 more months or so. Wanting to afford insulation to finish inside. started as a 12ft x 16ft shed. Stretched to 20ft and added a 10ft lean-to for the hobby room. 22ft x 20ft overall. pics are older. it is much farther along than what you see.

And the only reason I've done it all this way.........it's all been free! The mobile home, the portable building, and the shed. All freebies.

Sorry so long, but I was desperate to share.;) I had to split it into three. Sorry bout that too.

OK this is my update. Mainly for Mike the structural engineer ;) I have poured the concrete, put up walls with exterior sheeting and am about to get siding on it. The main door that is currently covered will be an oversized roll-up to fit my dually if I need to work on it, and the double doors will be the workshop. Still needs a dividing wall inside and sheetrock.

This is Tumbler's DISASTER ZONE! It's a work in progress and I'm still cleaning up and unpacking as I jus' bought this house back in June 2010.

From the doorway you can see the boxes upon boxes of models, parts kits, etc. This is half the reason I can't find anything at the moment. LoL That's my li'l apprentice (1 of 3) lookin' over the desk and giving me her Approval for my organizational skills.

And this is the desk................ LOOKOUT! LoL I hope you have your tetnus shot! I try and keep it somewhat organized but that doesn't always happen.

This is on top of the hutch area. Some are complete and waiting, but most are in some sort of disarray and waiting for their turn too.

Workin' on getting another desk so I'll have another work area and a spot for a spraybooth and photobooth. I have plans for in the future to create a hobby/storage room, but that comes later. LoL Hope you enjoyed the tour! B)

Haha .. I'm a Structural Engineer and I spent my career telling people you may start designing a building from the roof down, but you CAN'T build it that way! Someone always proves me wrong! :)

That does sound like a fantastic space ... once you get something to hold it up..

Mike, found me a concrete guy that poured around the steel supports that you see. That section is set 9ft high instead of 8ft. The lean-to was set at 8ft for wall height. It made it much easier for the roof setup. I will take some pics of the progress while my paint is drying this evening. Got one I need to finish before Friday.

Wow, that's a simple bench. And perfect too. You open it and get work done, and then you close it when you are done. Nobody sees or messes with your work in progress. Perfect.

Thanks Virgil. Yep, it can get a bit cramped though, especially if i'm working on more than one project. But as you say when i'm done I just shut it all away :) Keeps the glue and paint fumes in too

Here goes, maybe not the smallest but defiantly one of the smallest. Room is in basement and is 5x7 feet. Its a little humid in the basement so drying time can be a bear!!!

There are two windows in the room they're just above the pic.

Well Bill it may be a little small but it is well protected with the gun leaning in the corner.

I don't believe I've posted my area to any of these threads, so here goes. It's a pretty simple area in the basement and has increased in function as the need arises. I feel it's pretty complete and suits all my needs at the moment. Nothing like the spotless areas I see many of you have, but I/m the only one that comes down here so it's function over form.

Main work area under the stairs... where all the magic comes undone!

My camera is DOA right now but... I will make an observation as to size of the work area. When I lived on my own (before I got sick, had to walk away from my RTO mobile home and move in with my sister) I had an entire 12x12 spare bedroom as a workshop. I had 20 linear feet of 24" deep workbench and a 42" spraybooth. I now have a work area that is 30" deep by 5' long with shelves along the back wall for parts bins and such. Do you know that I've gotten more accomplished at the little desk in four months than I did in two years at the old place? To me, the big workshop was like firing up the tour bus just to go get a gallon of milk at the corner store... Almost more trouble than it was worth. You guys with the large work areas, I envy and appreciate your ability to control the beast and accomplish great things. I had grand plans for mine but it became unattenable after six months of 'I'll put that away later'... I've seen great things come from small work areas...
