Jantrix Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Can any GM buff here tell me whether the scoop on the '79 Z-28 (Monogram kit) was functional or was just aesthetically pleasing?
Casey Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Can any GM buff here tell me whether the scoop on the '79 Z-28 (Monogram kit) was functional or was just aesthetically pleasing? It was molded closed from what I've seen. Here are two, and they both look to be different from each other, as well as molded closed:
Danno Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 On the 1:1 the stinger-style Z-28 hoods were not functional as scoops; decoration only.
Danno Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Also, as an FYI regarding the two hoods shown in that pic (along with a bunch of other hoods), the one on the right (above the yellow & black two-tone hood) is the more accurate configuration of the 78/79 Z-28 hood; the one on the left (next to the green Auto World hood) is ... just ... WRONG! That is, if it is supposed to be a GM hood; if it is supposed to replicate an aftermarket hood of some kind, ... well, it could be. But it is definitely not right for a factory hood. Hope this helps.
