sobpinstriping Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I have been wanting to build this old jo-han kit for a long time and I finally got it, I had a 67 Plymouth fury (I know they are slightly different but I figured they were close enough). It is plumbed wired foiled and flocked and I added a bunch of small details that only I will notice but I just had to for this kit. A couple of things I was really excited about were the gear shift, I had a big pabst blue ribbon tap handle and so i made one out of some sprue, the lil bit of striping on the air cleaner is almost just like what I had same with the dash, the sob bottle in the back window now hangs above my work bench. I broke the rear driver side window trying to fix it so it had a piece of plexi glass in it that never stayed up with a clay smith sticker. The kit didn't have the chrome side trim so I took some strip styrene and added some . They hood ornament is from the Chrysler turbine car and the tires are from the parts box. I'm not 100% happy with the scallops but they are good enough for me, I need to keep a eye out for a different grill to graft on her and another set of tail lights to make it look a little bit better. Thanks for looking and any comments are welcome. cheers mat One of the few pics I still have of her P.S. feel free to post pics of cars you had and made into a model

Railfreak78 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Thats pretty neat! I like the personal touches. The real car looks cool too. I like a model with a history. The police still on the bumpers is about the only thing that sticks out. I love the beer tap shifter! Thanks for sharing it.
sobpinstriping Posted December 15, 2010 Author Posted December 15, 2010 I'm gonna print out some diffrent plates for it, I just got a printer from my parents but it need color ink and I'm broke, so when I get some extra cash thats on the list of things I need to get thanks.
W-409 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 That looks very nice! Love that color on it, and those scallops are made very nicely. Are they decals or painted...? Good looking engine bay too, and detailing is very nice. Weathering looks very good also. But keep on building, this one looks very good! Must build '67 Plymouth Vip from this kit, to a finnish Street D Drag Racer. That real thing has 478'' Big Block (if I remember correctly), with twin turbo system... Personal best of that car is 7,8sec... I must build that one...
sobpinstriping Posted December 15, 2010 Author Posted December 15, 2010 the scallops are painted on. The vip was a two door with a different roof, I bet it would work but take a lil bit of work
davyou5 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Iike it! And it seems you had a great inspiration to build it! Great Job with allot of the Extra Effort. .
W-409 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 The vip was a two door with a different roof, ... and that rear panel is a little different to this one.? Bit of work and it's there !
Chuck Most Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Weird- I've got a '67 Fury 4-door, too, and the Jo-Han '68 kit. I'm planning on doing the opposite of what you did and use the model as a kind of '3D Concept Sketch' for how the 1:1 will look when it's finished. Great job- I only hope mine turns out as cool (the model AND the real car).
Greg Cullinan Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 I like the stripes a lot very cool ride big and little.
sobpinstriping Posted December 16, 2010 Author Posted December 16, 2010 Thanks alot guys, sadly I had to sell the car which still makes me very sad, I will always miss her. I forgot to add that I made the seats tuck and roll from some grooved sheet styrene with some dirt on the seats, I was pretty proud of how they turned out evan though you cant see them very well in the pics.
