Andy Wyatt Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 This isn't so much "under glass" as it is "in the mail". A few of us decided (I didn't really decide...I was roped into it) to do a community build. Mhadman donated the kit, a few of us suckers put it together for him and he gets the finished build. I volunteered to do the engine. The kit is the Lindberg '61 Impala. The body is in Florida, the interior and parts of the chassis was done in Tennessee, the engine was done in Pennsylvania and the final assembly is being done in North Carolina. The finished model will then reside in New York. The engine is all from the kit except for the carb which came from my parts box. It was modified some, filled in the large hole in the top where an air cleaner would have been glued into and drilled out ports. Added plug wires and boots, fuel lines, heater hoses and carb linkage. Also scratched an alternator bracket. Now I have to figure out how to pack it so it gets to N.C. in one piece! I just hope the recipient likes it. This was a fun deal and (apparently) we will do it again, someone else donating the kit and everyone doing a different part of the build.
cruz Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Wow! I like the idea behind so many people working together, just make sure you guys post pictures of the completed model
mhadman Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Thats going to look great planted in the Impala..Your wiring and detail on engines is great. I wish i had remembered to send you all the decals..lol no worry,I will get them on once it gets here.. So now we have the Interior(which came out fantastic)and the engine,(Very nicely done Andy!),the chassis is set up and now we are waiting on the body man..lol I will post many pics once it gets up here...And don't let him kid you,he was happy to take part in this build.. Once it gets to N.Y.,I will be adding all the little chrome bits that might fall off in shipping... Look forward to working on the next one..
