mikemodeler Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Being a life long Bears fan and seeing the ups and downs of this season, I can honestly say that they played farther into the postseason than anyone predicted. Does that take the sting out of losing to the Green Bean Crackers? No, but the better prepared team won on Sunday and therefore earned the right to represent the NFC in the Superbowl. Who will I root for? Good question! While I am a NFC fan, I do remember the great Steeler's teams from the '70s and would have to say that I will be pulling for them come February 6. Hate is a strong word so I will have to say that I "dislike" the Packers, enough to root for Pittsburgh.
Chuck Most Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Forgive me if I've said this before, but I must insist... LIONS SUCK!!!!

Agent G Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Being married to a Chicagoan there was no doubt who I wanted to win. Gonna have to root for the cheeseheads now though. Out here in Sin City you can tell where folks come from by their team loyalities. Having no pro teams of our own we defer to our "home teams". I haven't been able to get behind the Rams for years though......................... I met Kurt Warner, back in the day, on the road to the SuperBowl. Remember, the football Cardinals were a St Louis icon untill Bidwell tried to extort a stadium from the city. I have always been a fan of Warner's, but the stars aligned in such a way as to keep me away from Phoenix also. G

G Actually Wayne, the Cardinals got their start in Chicago before they went off to St. Louis. Warner was a class act and is an example of how a NFL QB should act, unlike Brett Favre or Big Ben.
Harry P. Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 Um...Harry? His QB rating was lower than the Bears's 3rd string guy. You can't judge a QB based on his rating in any one particular game. Even the greatest QB can have an off game. You have to look at the guy's overall stats for the season.
Guest Markus355 Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 GO PACK. (anybody, PLEASE ANYBODY but the F&*&*&*$%$# STEELERS!)
Agent G Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Actually Wayne, the Cardinals got their start in Chicago before they went off to St. Louis. Warner was a class act and is an example of how a NFL QB should act, unlike Brett Favre or Big Ben. Yes they did, how soon we forget! Warner is a heck of a guy, and his Mrs. is a class act too. I met them at the Variety Club Telethon just after the SuperBowl win. We coppers donated our time to the telethon, and that particular day I had my daughter with me. I'm siting taking a break, when she runs up and asks if she can go onstage with the nice man and lady. I look up, way up, and see Kurt and Brenda. Tall people there Well I'm dumbfounded, so Brenda introduces herself and promptly takes the girl by the hand and leaves with her. Kurt said something to the effect "gotta go, wife says so". Good people there. G
moparmagiclives Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Being from Washington, its hurts me to say, the Bears never should'nt have made it that far, because the Seahawks DEFENETLY should not have made it that far. I think they got the Bears hopes up for the last game. But all in all it should be a good game. I'm sure the Pacs will walk away with it, but a good game non the less.
Harry P. Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 They're going to be good next year, though, if the can keep Matthew Stafford healthy, though. (A BIG if, I know.) They actually were competitive even in a lot of the games they lost this season and played VERY well down the stretch. Ndamukong Suh is a force of nature on defense, and they've got some serious offensive talent, too, with Calvin Johnson and Jahvid Best. Like the Bills, the Lions have nowhere to go but up! The Lions did play pretty well this past season... at least, a big improvement over their 2009 season. I hope the Lions do become contenders... Detroit needs all the good news it can get.
mikemodeler Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 In the end, they play the games to determine who is best prepared to win on that given day. How many times has the underdog beaten the favored team and the "experts" were surprised? How do you explain the Jets beating Indy & N.E. on the road and then almost beating Pittsburgh? Their coach and their inner drive got them to where they were, not some talking head on TV! There is a lot of parity in the NFL, especially in the NFC as the Packers are the 10th different team to represent the division in the Superbowl in the last 10 years. It really comes down to luck, preparation and getting hot at the right time. Remember, the Packers HAD to beat the Bears in the last regular season game to even make the playoffs. The "what ifs?" of life can be cruel. What if the Bears beat Green Bay on January 2? Would the N.Y. Giants have been able to make the same run as Green Bay? As a Bears fan it was disappointing but it was a decent game afterall. Cutler really did hurt his knee and the 3rd string QB nearly tied it up at the end. Could not have predicted that at 2:00 P.M, CST on January 23!
MikeMc Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Well, the 2 teams played twice this season. They went 1-1 on the regular season, with the largest margin of victory being 7 points. This game was decided by 7 points. Say whatever you want, but these were two extremely well-matched teams. If you think the Bears "shouldn't have made it that far" but the Packers will "walk away with it" because they are one-touchdown better than the Bears on any given day? Sounds like you should bet on the Steelers. Yep they play two games every year....as Harry (Bears) and I (Packers) both know when the two meet..it will be a low scoring event normally. I have been there and seen that live in both Lambeau and County Stadium as a 3rd generation season ticket holder....So as both Cheeseheads and Pennyheads know...the Black and Blue division is a tough place to play.I'm waiting for #13
Harry P. Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 So as both Cheeseheads and Pennyheads know...the Black and Blue division is a tough place to play. Yep, the black and blue division is real football! And if it can't be the Bears in the Superbowl, I'm glad that a team from "our" division made it. Go Packers!
Harry P. Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 I second that. My favorite team happens to be whoever's playing the Serial Rapists, er, Steelers, but I genuinely like the Pack. What if the Eagles and the Steelers was the matchup? Who do you root for? Vick or Roethlisberger? (or however you spell it)... talk about the "lesser of two evils"...
Chuck Most Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 BEHOLD MY NEW SIGNATURE!!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!
Harry P. Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 BEHOLD MY NEW SIGNATURE!!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!! But the Lions' season is over. Maybe you need to update your signature to say "Tigers SUCK!"
mikemodeler Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 I just wish Chuck would come forth with his true feeling about the Detroit NFL Franchise....
Harry P. Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 Also, Roethlisberger's defenders like to point out that he wasn't charged with a crime, so he must not have done anything wrong. To them, I would point out that O.J. Simpson was found not guilty, too ... Well, of course O.J. got off. Remember, if the gloves don't fit, you must acquit!!!
highway Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 The only good thing about the Super Bowl is it means the Daytona 500 is just around the corner!!!
Chuck Most Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Yeah, pay no attention whatsoever to the victims' blood in his vehicle, his blood at the crime scene, etc., etc. :D BACK AND TO THE LEFT, KEN!!!!!!!!!!!! PS Lions Suck.
Chuck Most Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Definitely Vick. Not to say Vick's crimes were not repugnant (they were), but, at least he was punished and paid his debt to society. I won't be happy until I see a story on the news about Vick being mauled to death by dogs. THEN he'll be a good man in my book!
MikeMc Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) It's not the same now that it's the North and not the Central though. It made so much more sense when Tampa Bay was part of the black-n-blue (and dreamsicle orange/white!) division! It made no sense...the team couldn't win a game if the temp went below 40 degrees...and they had no tradition...still really don't...... :D GO PACK GO !!!!!!!! Edited January 25, 2011 by Stasch
Harry P. Posted January 25, 2011 Author Posted January 25, 2011 How Tampa was ever considered to be in the "central' divison is a mystery to me. Maybe the Yankees should be in the AL West???
