Danno Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 (edited) For anyone who has marveled at the beauty and detailed intricacy of the 1/25 Cobra replicas being meticulously created from virtually scratch by Bob Peeples, for anyone who has been awed by his talent or inspired by his craftsmanship, please take a few moments to dash out a get-well-soon card or a cheery note and send it to him. Bob's in the intensive care unit of a Mesa hospital since collapsing at home Sunday. He's been fighting cancer for some time now and is just spent. He has many friends here locally, and we're going to stop in for short visits as he can tolerate until he's stronger and able to return home and to the work bench and to our club; he says his immediate goal is to make our February meeting on the 19th. But he's a humble guy and just doesn't realize how much he's brought to the hobby's table. I told him that several people around our modeling community had asked about him, and it brought both surprise and joy to him. So, if you have a few minutes and are so inclined, please think good, positive thoughts for our friend, throw in a prayer or two, and maybe jot out a card or a note to buouy his spirits and encourage him on. We really want to see him strong enough to resume sharing his fabulous Cobra project ... and his dry wit ... with us! Bob Peeples ICU 206 Banner Baywood Medical Center 6644 East Baywood Avenue Mesa, AZ 85206 (It's ICU - flowers, balloons, calls ~ not good. Cards, notes, mail ~ good.) Thanks so much, friends. Danno Posted January 28, 2011 Author Posted January 28, 2011 Here’s some news about our good friend Bob Peeples, and an address for any cards, notes, or letters you can send his way to help keep him smiling as he deals with a very serious illness. He’s escaped the ICU and is now in a regular room – Room 614, same hospital. That’s the good news. The bad news is the docs have advised him to expect a stay of at least another month. The really good news, though, is that he’s gotten a lot of rest and excellent medical treatment and he is stronger and more alert, more talkative, more himself! For anyone who has marveled at the beauty and detailed intricacy of the 1/25 Cobra replica he is meticulously creating from virtually scratch; for anyone who has been awed by his talent or inspired by his craftsmanship; please take a few moments to dash out a get-well-soon card or a cheery note and send it to him. We really want to see him strong enough to get back home, back to his family, his menagerie of critters, and back to sharing his dry wit with us! And we all want him to get back to that Cobra! Bob Peeples Room 614 Banner Baywood Medical Center 6644 East Baywood Avenue Mesa, AZ 85206 . Thanks so much, friends. Dan Moonlight Modelers Speaking of his Cobra Daytona project: here's a quick refresher. He’s building (mostly scratchbuilding) a very precise replica of Cobra Daytona chassis # CSX-2601. In case you’ve never seen it, here’s the most recent pix:
ra7c7er Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 I hope he gets better soon. I know how much long hospital stays suck. I was in a hospital for 4 months after a racing accident and another time I was in for over a month. That Cobra looks really cool. Very detailed.
SuperStockAndy Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Hope he gets well. I hate hospitals - period.
george 53 Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Don't know Mr Peeples myself, but that IS one heckava model he's got there. Will send prayers his way for a quick recovery (Hospitals ARE a drag!) and hopefully he can get back to that incredible model. Get Well Quick, Bob !!!!
Danno Posted March 14, 2011 Author Posted March 14, 2011 Sorry to have to update this thread regarding our friend, Bob Peeples, with the following information. Bob lost his battle with leukemia and pneumonia on Friday (March 11, 2011). For those of you who sent him a card, note, or message during his hospitalization, please know that he was cheered ~ and true to his humble nature ~ surprised by your showing of support. He had not realized how many friends he had. He was unable to complete his plastic passion of many years, his meticulously accurate scratchbuilt replica of Shelby Cobra Daytona, chassis number CSX-2061. We've lost a great friend and modeling talent. See the link for service arrangements and memorial information. Bob Peeples Memorial page RIP, Bob. We miss you, friend.
MikeMc Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Now I'm bummed.... My thoughts and prayers go out to all
