For anyone wondering what the difference is between MCM and other car model magazines on the market, all you have to do is check out Jairus Watson's rendition of the newly minted WILDHARE shopping cart. It's the kind of article that is not only pure entertainment and eye candy, but totally inspiring. It's fun, it's well written and illustrated. It has personal touches. In short, it's the kind of article that Yours Truly would love to see more of, and would pay top (subscription) dollars for.

Or, as DOCTOR CRANKY, would put it, it's what keeps the Styrene Gods so well pleased!

And the rest of #154 ain't too shabby. Chuck Most--who is not only prolific but so young and full of model-building fun!--hits the ball out of the park with some nifty scratch building that will put big smiles on a rat rod. Thanks Count C.!

And the Big Kahuna (and Drew H.) show they can build a pair of midgets with class and pizzaz!

And to master puppeteer behind the scenes (Harry P), I say keep pulling your strings and thanks for the great layouts.

WANT MORE? EH? WANT MORE?

It's headed your way!

I'm tired of the attitude SA gets here. MCM would NOT be here if it wasnt for SA paving the way. SA is largely responsible for the resurgence of the hobby from the dark ages of the 70's. I see it as simply 2 diffrent flavors. I like both for diffrent reasons.

All Cranky did was express what he saw as a difference in magazine style and what he liked about MCM this issue. So Lee, do us a favor and stuff the 'attack on SA' canned bologna you are shoving here. Nothing dorogatory was said about SA, unless you consider 'the other mag' a dorogatory wording. Thank you for your opinion on the nmatter, but until SA comes DIRECTLY under attack, spare us all.

Thank you for your thoughts on this isuue Cranky.....I have yet to see it (or even its earlier sister) in this area of the country.

Whatever. Put me on ignore if you dont like what I say!! All I see in threads about how good MCM is is how bad SA is, whether it is mentioned by name or not, you know what is being talked about, and as you so eliquently put it, it's opinion, and I have a right to mine, and I'm tired of the SA bashing, as that is what it is.

I didn't see any of that here in this thread. So your 'whatever' and counter-arguement are null and void in this thread. thanks for trying though.

As far as ignore function, not gonna happen. Why? As a forum, we are bound to have our disagreements. Just because we do doesn't mean we just ignore one another. If we ignore in such a manner, we may miss real good conversation and/or ideas.

Now, with that said, I read BOTH MCM and SA for different reasons. I have my opinions as to which I percieve to be better, but that is just a PERSONAL PERCEPTION.

Lee, with all due respect since I don't know where you are coming from with this, I have to tell you that this magazine, like any other, has a right to toot it's own horn in terms of the good work it is doing. AND as a magazine it also has the right to compare itself to any other source that brings the same or similar content to its subscribers and viewers.

In short, my post HAS NOTHING--I repeat NOTHING--to do with whatever magazine you are bringing up. It has to do with the contents in issue #154 of MODEL CAR MAGAZINE.

Guys, I just don’t get this!!!!

I belong to this forum….I also belong to the F1 Modeling forum, which I think one or two others from here belong to too. I post there very rarely, mainly because I don’t build much in the way of F1 now, although F1 models are one of my favorites. Posting F1 here usually gets a tepid response, if any at all…which is fine, that is why I ventured over there. I know you guys enjoy customs, stock builds and rats. All of that is fine, I do too. But the point of this post is, in the 18 or so months that I have viewed and belonged to the F1 site, I can tell you I never see the childish bickering or juvenile outbursts like we have over here. The guys over there encourage each other and go above and beyond to help with requests for pictures or information on cars.

These guys love F1 and they are committed to following it and modeling it. Another thing kind of interesting is that almost all of them are foreigners (non USA residents); perhaps that is a contributing factor to the civility on that forum. I have noticed a getter number of non USA members here lately, and I have noticed that they tend to avoid the MCM family squabbles.

Guys, I don’t understand why there is all of this ridicules hostility. If someone looks at another “cross-eyedâ€, the verbal attacks begin. This silly “Hatfields and McCoy’s†feuding over which magazine is better is just so unnecessary. They both exist, they both have automotive models and both cover the same shows….what is the problem? If you like one over the other, than just read one of them.

I paint with oils….I read “American Artist†and “International Artist†most every month….there is no “shots across the bows†of the other magazine…not on the web either. The artists are concerned about the art…not the vehicle that brought the art to them.

Personally, at the risk of alienating myself from many you, I do not have the time or patience for this bickering. I know, I can ignore it, and I usually do, but this is getting like that old joke….†Last night I went to a boxing match and a Hockey game broke outâ€. Someone makes a post, and someone else has to start a childish squabble.

We can do so much better.

Guys,

I usually don't say much when it comes to this kind of stuff, but I feel this discussion, (and the other thread) is getting out of hand, so I feel I must speak up

There are always going to be diffeneces of opinions, and thats cool, thats the beauty of online froums, but when you start bashing other members, it has to stop.

When I first joined the online modeling community years ago, I was a hardcore aircraft modeler, and I enrolled in a certian Aircraft forum..

I notice very quickly that threads would get way out of hand and turn into name calling arguments...

I'm starting to see some of that here, and quite frankly, its disturbing.

I got tired of it and finally quit that site. I haven't been back since. All I wanted to do was learn, talk airplanes, and have fun, not get into arguements with "rivet-counters"..

"Looks like an F-4 Phantom to me"

I really like this Forum and the people here, please, don't let that happen to this site.....

My $0.02 worth

Cheers, Ian

Lee, no need to apologize, buddy . . . everyone is entitled to their opinion, and this forum allows everyone such expression, so no need.

Cheers, D. Cranky.
