ewaskew Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Scotch brite scrubing pads The yellow and green kind Cut in strips slightly wider than the tire, and as thick as the side walls. Stuffed inside the tire with the green side against the tread side of the tire for support. Cut after there stuffed into the tire where they but together. Trimed if needed for side width.
cowboysevens Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 they look good, and im sure it was alot easier that stuffing rolled up toilet paper like ive been doing lol dennis
Guest Johnny Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I was doing that way back! I always used rolled up paper towel! Used the same method on motorcycle model tires!
george 53 Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Actually, this is a pretty good idea for ANY hollow tires. I never thought about that.
Mike Kucaba Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 You can also use caulking backer rod (foam used when gap is too big for caulking by itself) It's like round foam rope, and comes in several diameters. Used it in the Revell slicks from their 1/16th scale fuelers and F/C.
Semi Trailer Mechanic Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 they look good, and im sure it was alot easier that stuffing rolled up toilet paper like ive been doing lol dennis I hope you weren't trying to be green by recycling used toilet paper. BACK ON TOPIC looks like your idea works! I like the tread pattern on these tires but the offset soulders I think ruins the accuacy.
Bowtienutz Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Mike I like your idea of the foam caulk. Do you get a federal tax brake for that ?
Mr mopar Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 I don't understand! Could you show the pads you used and how wide you cut then?
Mike Kucaba Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Mike I like your idea of the foam caulk. Do you get a federal tax brake for that ? Hi Vince,I'm not claiming to have come up with that idea,it's just one of those things that I read somewhere sometime. No tax break either!
ewaskew Posted February 18, 2011 Author Posted February 18, 2011 I don't understand! Could you show the pads you used and how wide you cut then? I'm working out of town this week, when I get home Sunday I'll post some photos showing what I'm talking about.
