Custom Mike Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 I'm such a tease! I did this last night, and just had to post a few pics. It's gonna be my next WIP, but I don't want to start it yet, gotta get the Momad done. But this part came out so good I had to post it, I can't help myself.
Custom Mike Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 Looks great. Where did you get he mesh? Rob, it's from Royal Model, I'm guessing it's for Armor, since it's 1/35th scale. It's item number 470, Medium Diamond Mesh. My friend Mike at my LHS suggested it, and I'm glad he did, it worked out great!
Custom Mike Posted February 18, 2011 Author Posted February 18, 2011 OK, here's a few pics with the modified hood side on my already built '32 Highboy, I really like this look, what do you guys think?
Casey Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I think it would look better on a full-fendered car, instead of a highboy. The way the vents decrease in length as your eye goes lower make me think of how the stock fender visually flows. What does the backside of the hood side look like?
Custom Mike Posted February 18, 2011 Author Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) Robert, steal away dude, I'm glad you guys like it enough to try it yourself! I think it would look better on a full-fendered car, instead of a highboy. The way the vents decrease in length as your eye goes lower make me think of how the stock fender visually flows. What does the backside of the hood side look like? Casey, this is for a '32 5-Window, not the Highboy, I just used it to see how it actually looked on the car. The back side will have to have some small grooves cut around the openings so I can sink the backside of the mesh into it, because it's kind of messy as it sits now...
