Cutting, grinding, sanding and buffing mainly. It is by far, hands down the most used and most loved tool I have. I don't know what I did before I had it.

I agree I use my dremel all the time I build mostly drag cars from the old days.Opening up wheelopenings thinning inside the body so the tires fit etc.

I agree, and it's also a very useful tool for weathering.

the one thing i have found my cordless minimite great for is last minute repairs where you have to relieve some plastic from something like an opening door or to make the body fit down nice on the chassis. can get right in there and apply directed grinding where you would never be able to with a file or abrasive paper.

i also find that gnarly circular saw blade handy for cutting near straight lines in styrene sheet and through curves.

My only complaint about the Dremel I have (it's older) is it only has two speeds... stopped and warp 9. It doesn't really cut and grind so much as it melts its way along, filling in your cut line with melted plastic. For the same price as a Dremel, about $69 I bought a Grizzly flex shaft motor tool off Amazon.com. It has a foot pedal so you can select any speed you need, hands free and a head the size of a magic marker. Sweeeeeeet.

thats the beauty of the mini mite and now the stylus, besides the cordless feature, they run a lot slower and are a lot more controllable than the regular AC dremels. they are two speed and i use mostly the high speed to grind on plastic and it doesnt go so fast to start melting the plastic unless you really get carried away. its the koolest tool on my bench!

if you get a chance you should try one sometime, mine has really saved the build a few times and ive become pretty spoiled by having the minimite around!
