Brutalform Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Just wondering if anyone has dealt with them? I ordered some epoxy from them in mid Feb. Got an email saying it was shipped, like two weeks ago. Oh...BTW, they seem to not answer emails either. Wondering if I got burnt?
Joe Handley Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 I don't do any online shopping, so no I haven't. I do know a lot of people who have bought LiPo batteries for cheap from them, usually with decent luck on quality.
Jon Cole Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 What exactly is Hobby King? Is it a storefront? Is it strictly mailorder? Do they have a web site? Did you try calling them? They claim to have shipped already? Who was the shipper? Is there a tracking number, and if not, why not? Will they refund your money? Will they file a claim against the shipper? Be polite to them, but make sure they know that you will be on this until the matter is resolved.
Joe Handley Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 I think Hobby King is based out of Hong Kong and is internet only, but have heard they were opening offices and a warehouse here in the States. Now that I think of it. 2 weeks sounds about right for that shipping, or at least that's about the length of time a lot of their buyers wait for the LiPo's they sell. Don't know about their other hobby products, but those batteries were usually cheap enough that even if they were bad right out of the package, most people would just dispose of the bad ones and order more from them and take the chance on the new ones being ok
Brutalform Posted March 14, 2011 Author Posted March 14, 2011 Thanks for the replies. My order is shipped, and the web page is "USA location". I have an order #...but no tracking #. I tried to call them, but no answer, also emailed twice. It seems they are from all over the globe. I guess I will wait a few more days, then try calling, and emailing them again.
aarondupont Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Most paints, solvent glues etc are shipped ground. Plus they probably sent it parcel post rate. It's cheaper. So 2 weeks sounds about right. I wonder how quick they shipped it after your order.
Brutalform Posted March 14, 2011 Author Posted March 14, 2011 This is the response I got from the first email I sent several days ago, and the one I sent today.... Thank you for your email. We have received your request and one of our support staff will contact you shortly. *Due to high volume of emails accumulated during Chinese New Year holiday, your emails will be answered within 3-7 days. We appreciate your patience during this demanding time. Please feel free to contact us via Live Chat or by Phone for urgent requests* The only thing is, they never replied to the first one. I guess "IF" I get the order, I will not be ordering from them again.
Erik Smith Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Two to three weeks is not too long for shipping from China. Sometimes they may list "US location" but have to ship it from another location. I have had to wait up to 4 or 4.5 weeks for shipments from China. Also, from a US location could take two weeks - the notification of the item shipping could mean they prepared the package/printed postage but NOT that the carrier actually has picked up the item. So add a few days for that and.... Hope you get your item!
CAL Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Sometimes they are slow sometimes they are fast, but I have always got anything I ordered from them. I have ordered from them dozens of times, but never when I need something absolutely now. You do have to pay attention to if the item is in stock or not, where it is coming from IE China, US or Germany, and how the item has been shipped. The RC Helicopter guys use them all the time. Now some of there stuff is sub-standard, but you never here of them not shipping stuff. I am sure you will get your order. Keep in mind Chinesee New Year is a huge holiday for them that lasts a week or so.
Brutalform Posted March 15, 2011 Author Posted March 15, 2011 Thanks for the replies everyone. After all your posts...I'm sure the epoxy will show.
Jim Gibbons Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I've learned that international shipping can be a fling of the dice. I received an order from Germany in less than a week, yet one from Italy took over a month. Well, I really shouldn't be surprised at the efficiency of Germany's postal system!
fumi Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 The US has taken heightened security measures on all mail shipping into the US. All air mail services will be delayed. http://www.hongkongpost.com/eng/publications/notices/2011/20110225a/index.htm Last I heard all parcels and packages going to the US need to be x-rayed.
Brutalform Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 Arrived today!!! Couple days shy of a month though. Thanks for all of the replies.
