I know there is a lot of mustang guys on here, and I need help finding complete rear axle assembly 8.8. Ive checked Jegs, summit, rpm performance, american muscle, cj pony parts, Lethal performance, late model restoration among a few others. I will keep searching and checking google. I will post back if I have found anything. Thank you ahead of time for those who help. I have to get this car up and running. I have 5 lug axles that I bought because I was going to install a Fox body 8.8 :( im going to end up buying a new assembly.

If you do not need anything special, have you tried a local junkyard?

Local junk yards even in a 50 mile radius don't usually have anything 8.8, besides that I don't want to spend 200 then it break down and another 200 if not more. Prefer to buy new with 3.73 and posi trac.

Currie Enterprises will set you up with any rear need :P

Thanks, but they skip 94-04 :( and with the set up that I want they want over 2K for just the fox body.

Okay, but first I need to know what is you expectation in price? It appears that you want new at used prices. How about a range of what would be acceptable. I'll check Craigslist here in the Phoenix area and see what they have. ;)

Preferably lol, but I am expecting to pay anywhere from 800 to 1200 plus shipping. I can get an complete axle assembly from moser for about 1120 plus 75 for shipping. I am unsure about it actually working for my application so I have contacted them, now I have to wait on them. I have checked with strange engineering most of their complete assemblies are 9" they have the 8.8 but I did not see what I was looking for.

Can we get some more information? Are you building a tire-shredding torque monster of an engine?

Do you already have an 8.8 rear end (or did you get a car with no rear end?).

The 8.8 can take plenty of abuse. I don't see why you need to go with an expensive rear end.

Do you have the same question posted on a Fox Mustang message board? You will definitely get better results there.

Ok, without sounding like a ###### (might not work, but I'll try): What year is the car you are putting the rear into? What brake set-up do you want?

3.73:1 looks like the ONLY info you really give for the 8.8" you want. $1200.00 and a bit of knowledge will build you one VERY NICE 8.8" (that is, assuming you have the knowledge to rebuild one and the common sense to do it BEFORE sticking it into the car). Give us the info we need and we can help you. I have paid as little as $75.00 for a FOX 8.8" and had about $700.00 in GOOD parts into it (and that was swapping to 5lug/disc). Help us help you.

I have the car with a 7.5, why i am swapping? because a carrier bolt sheared off inside and now my ring gear and pinion Pop, the last time it done it it felt like the whole back end twisted and sounded like three shotguns going off simultaneously.

I want to keep the original braking system which is disk brake. Seeing that I want to go with an 8.8 setup I want 3.73 with posi-trac. I will eventually upgrade my upper and lower control arms. I would like to have 99-04 setup because it will bolt right in with minimum effort. The reason for the fox body rear is to bring my wheels in closer, Because I have 275/35/18 on the rear.

Have you tried going to a local shop you would be surprised what auto shops can get in a local area even when you can't find anything yourself.

Like others have said why not just go with a 9"? If you are having this much trouble finding 8.8 stuff now what happens if it breaks down the road. 9" stuff is available everywhere.

Thank you, that is closer to what i am looking for. I have a couple people from my church to check with, but If they cannot help me then I will be checking back there for sure.

On another note I have a 2002 mustang 3.8 v6 232 I am slowly building it up to add power if there is other information I will give it. I know that rear assembly from fox body to 2004 will fit my car. I had researched it plenty before. The fox is around 1 to 1.5 shorter overall 94-98 is a little wider 99-04 will fit perfect the 05-current is too wide. I just simply want an 8.8 with posi trac. Sorry for being a rear, to those who helped me with other links thank you. That is all I was asking for.Quote from me earlier I know there is a lot of mustang guys on here, and I need help finding complete rear axle assembly 8.8. Now that you have FINALLY answered us as to what YEAR your car is, we will be able to more closely help you out.

Your info is incorrect on the FOX/early SN95 axle housing lengths. The 8.8" Mustang axle HOUSING is the same length from 1986-98. It is the axles themselves that are different lengths (1994-98 axles are 3/4" longer each axle than the FOX units). However, being as the 7.5" and the 8.8" rears used the same brake backing plate bolt pattern (be it 4lug, 5lug, disc, or drum), you can convert a FOX housing from 9" drum to SN95 length disc by swapping brake backing plates and axles. The 1999-2004 axle HOUSING is actually longer than the 1986-98 units (somewhere between 1"-1.5" each side). But, the brake backing plate bolt pattern is still the same. You could bolt your brakes back onto the FOX/Early SN housing. You would have to use the axles from the Early SN or FOX though. Now, if your wheels require using a hybrid axle/brake set-up to clear everything, you will be better off having a housing built FOR YOUR APPLICATION. This is not cheap. Or, you could get close by experimenting with different axles, brake rotor/caliper/backing plate combos along with spacers. If you already have the wheels, this is the only way to go. If you still have to order the wheels, set your rear end up first, them measure and measure again. Order the wheels with the proper backspacing/offset you will need. For $1200.00, you MIGHT get what you want, but it won't be an off-the-shelf unit.

Yeah, his earlier post stated he wanted 3.73:1 gears. On the 1999-2004 cars, they can use a set like that (fat ladies need to get their rears in gear to get some motion going!).

If it is a 3.8/Auto, 3.73:1s would be a MINIMUM gear. 4.10:1 would be a good choice for that small engine to get that fat chick moving.

Before anyone comes in thinking I am being cruel, the SN95s weight between 300-500 pounds MORE than a comparable FOX.
