crazyjim Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Just completed another one (I've been on a roll). This is my '54 Ford Effie in HOK root beer. I made a rear pan for the taillights, rolled the front pan and put in some driving lights. The headlight buckets are my castings and the grille is from some Dodge. Shaved the door handles and drip rails and made the bed floor from poplar.
george 53 Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Very nice color,Jim. It FITS the style of the truck. Me, myself, I've never cared for the headlights canted in reverse like that, but sometimes thats the only way to get them to fit. But i like the way it came out! GREAT job,Daddy-O!!!
crazyjim Posted March 16, 2011 Author Posted March 16, 2011 And thanks again, George. You're quick with replies. I was going to tilt the lights the other way but I figured, what the heck.
george 53 Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Gotta bad habit of hangin round here Jim. It's like a second home! But you know, ya gotta have headlights, so anyway you can get them rascals in there is whatcha gotta do. It CERTAINLY doesn't take ANYTHING away from your build, it's just a personal preference of mine.
Greg Pugh Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Oooo......I like it! I dig the shade of brown and the canted headlights. Don't worry about the angle, it's nice to see a variant every now and then. Besides, they look good. Very nice.
Jon Carr Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 I like it, and that color is sweet...don't see alot of cars painted that color.
Dr. Cranky Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 I love the color. Great engine details too. Nice build.
crazyjim Posted March 16, 2011 Author Posted March 16, 2011 Thank you for the kind words, fellas. Years ago, maybe 20, I got my hands on a '54 F100. I worked 10 hour days so I could go out to a friends body shop in Maple Park, IL every Monday to work on the truck. had a fresh frame built by Gibbons that had a Cordoba torsion bar suspension up front and the Cordoba rear with leaf springs. I was building up a supply of stainless fittings and one piece door glass. The drip rails and door handles were gone & filled. All the holes in the firewall and dashboard were filled. Fenders, doors, hood, and box were in prime and ready for paint. The interior was going to have a console that started just under the dash, go between the seats, up the back wall with a third brake light, and then continue on the inside of the roof. And then my wife decided she loved her boss more than me and was gone. Goodbye Effie.
george 53 Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 MAN that's a drag way to loose your ride!!! I'm feelin for ya Brother! The ex wasn't worth it anyway. BUT at least you can STILL build the Effie!
crazyjim Posted March 16, 2011 Author Posted March 16, 2011 The worst part, George, is she left when I was at my part time job -AND TOOK MY DOG WITH HER. It took me a couple of weeks to get her back. The dog, that is.
george 53 Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Well at least ya got the one that LOVED you back!!! Good move!!!!! I
