jsimmons Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Am I the only person that builds model cars in San Antonio? Anyone else? Helllooooooo! All I hear is an echo.... I'm in a model car wasteland.
Eric Stone Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 I could tell ya when and where to go to cure that if you were in Houston...
DRG Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 But just think all those Model Shops are just for you.

I'm in a model car wasteland. OOOH! Another SA modeler!!! You/we are not alone, there are plenty of us. It's just that there are not many that appear to be on this site. I think there's about four or five here and only a couple of us are fairly active. Welcome anyway! There are plenty of others here but there is no real or formal club or group. More like a loose knit association that meet and chat every year at the ModelFiesta. What side of town are you on?

I notice that I missed this year's event by just a couple of weeks. How big is that event? I thought I was going to have to try IPMS. I could setup a web page for us if anyone is interested (I'm a programmer by trade).

robertw Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 If you want lonely. I'm the only modeller in a town of 500 located on the prairies of Canada. My nearest hobby shop, model club or even fellow modeller is almost 150 miles away. I'm sure there are others in as bad a position and I truly understand their loneliness and feel sorry for you. Been modelling for 50 years and at least the relatively recent invention of the internet has allowed me to have some contact to fellow builders. rob
disabled modeler Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I know that feeling Robert, Were I live its a 125 mile ride one way to a hobby shop too. Al we have is a hobby lobby that gets next to nothing unless your a military or ship builder? At least I can get paints there.
torinobradley Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 There was an "oh, wow" moment in this little tale. Turns out I lived right behind John a few years ago. Now, if we'd only had that big sign on the house that said "a modeler lives here", we would have been set... Small world...
Ben Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 I'm here! I build everything but my most favorite things to build are construction equipment, semi trucks and drag cars. I live on the Northeast side off Walzem. Been building models for over 38 years or so. Here's my site.... http://www.public.fotki.com/lotso
Monte's Motors Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Am I the only person that builds model cars in San Antonio? Anyone else? Helllooooooo! All I hear is an echo.... I'm in a model car wasteland. I suggest going through the members list and see who you can find. I found about a half dozen more in my area. Now my closest modeler is 35 miles away.

I will let you know the next time more than one of us get together to talk plastic, though we are in the Sea World area. Maybe we can figure out a more central area.
jsimmons Posted April 21, 2011 Author Posted April 21, 2011 I'm setting up my web page at a new web hosting site, and would be happy to include a link to anyone elses car-model-related web site/fotki page that also lives in the San Antonio area. I can also start/maintain a newsletter page on the site for San Antonio modelers to keep everyone else update on what they're doing and related info. I hope to have the page online in a week or two. So, if you are in the San Antonio area (within an hour's drive of downtown), let me know throu a PM here and provide the link to your page.
