brett Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Box stock, kinda/ mostly Think I got a bit burned out after the heavy chevys, still having a bit of trouble with my arms as well so thought I'ld start a nice easy box stock to get me going. Mocked it up, and wondered who had swapped the suspension with a 4x4 hilux. so out came the razor saw and dremel not that it looks like much in the pics 4 or so mms isnt too bad Going with a dark red, black interior, Baldwin Motion stripes if they work. no interior pics but its just semi gloss black, bmf handles and black flocking on the floor and no pics of engine yet either ( i forgot)
hOLMS Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 liking it so far, good-looking chassis and great stance......cool black fingernail btw, sign of a tru modeler (lol)
brett Posted March 29, 2011 Author Posted March 29, 2011 Thanks Jeff, but I was going for an emo look lol. Got a bit more done today was really happy with the way the dash turned out till I realized it should of had black gauges with white no.s a few mockup shots going to give it a wash tomorrow , foil it then see if the decals will play nice
Greg Pugh Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Holy smokes!! You move fast! Can I borrow a coupla your elves to help me out on my Chevelle??
W117monte Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Looks good! Baldwin Motion cars were THE baddest of the bad. you have your fuel pump mounted upside down though.
LAone Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 i like low and mean looking camaro's. looks great bud.
Reeves Racing Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 That is looking great Brett, but I am gonna count some rivits here and let you know the fuel pump is on upside down...
Reeves Racing Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 (edited) Not shaking the trees Reeves. Just noticed it. I told him it looked good and i meant it. Why dont you keep your smart ass comments to yourself. Well unfortunately I didn’t read your post, so I wasn’t “shaking the trees†and secondly why do you feel so self important that YOU are the only one to bring up an honest mistake on a build? I have a lot of respect for Brett's builds, just look at his 62 Chevy or 69 Chevelle. I just saw an obvious mistake and commented on it. I think the only smart(aleck) here is you. Why don’t you keep the cursing off the forum like has been directed and get over your bad self… Edited March 31, 2011 by seveeRRacing
W117monte Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 (edited) Sorry reeves. I thought you were responding to me " nit picking". I take it back and i am sorry. i will delete my previous post because i am an idiot and so i dont ruin Bretts thread. (inserts foot in mouth) Brett , If you are interested in Baldwin Motion cars, there is an excellent book called "motion- tales of a super car builder." I just picked it up at my local Barnes and Noble and I'm sure you can find online. Tons of pics and great stories right from the horses mouth! http://www.amazon.com/Motion-Performance-Tales-Muscle-Builder/dp/0760335389 Edited March 31, 2011 by W117monte
brett Posted March 31, 2011 Author Posted March 31, 2011 glad you guys sorted it out . going by the rather vague instructions ,that was the way it looked, even the block flat spot was shaped the way I installed it.Not that it matters I'm not wiring or plumbing it so it will never run anyway . Besides do you realize how much of it can be seen when everything else is done ? Not a lot. Glad it was pointed out as I have the Yenko and a RS to build at some stage, dont want to get caught out there again . Anyhow, got the decals on, not impressed. They laid down alright but look very dull with a hint of red showing through.
W117monte Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Did you lower the rear suspension too? I like the way this car sits!
brett Posted April 1, 2011 Author Posted April 1, 2011 No, I thought I was going to have to but she sits right where it is, As the pics in the first post show all I did was cut the backing plate with the spindles off, cleaned both surfaces (sanded) and remounted them about 4 mm higher. Don't think you could go any lower if using the supplied exhaust as its the thickness of paper off the deck with the car dropped like this. HTH's a bit
Reeves Racing Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Sorry my reply was so harsh Monte... Sorry to insert some silly drama into your thread Brett. Your right about not being able to see it anyway. Looking forward to seeing this one underglass
