1) thanks for the information everyone.I was reading yesterday how great the board was because you can always learn something,and I was thinking, "Yeah, like what?"

2) Don't you think this would make a great "Parts Pack" ? Engines, engine stand, A frame,jack and a trailer?

3) Now what am I going to do with all those engines? I got a baggy (hey, great idea for storing spare parts) full of those engines from someone.

I believe the engine still exists... it's the one used in the Boss Nova drag wagon. I think AMT retooled this Buick into the Nova, then turned the Nova into the Boss Nova drag version. I can't confirm this, but that's what I've heard.

Curious that AMT would include a Chrysler display engine in models of GM vehicles!

Even though it wasn't a display engine, isn't a Chrysler included in the old 49 Merc kit, too? If I remember, isn't there an optional DeSoto Firedome in the 53 Ford truck?

Matt there's a 426 Max Wedge in the '49 Merc, a DeSoto Firedome in the '53 F100 and a 409 in the '57 Bel Air old tool.

There is however, more to the history of that kit & that engine.

For 1963, AMT retooled it in to a Chevy Nova wagon kit, keeping that same Hemi as a display engine, as seen at these two links:

Circa 1969/1970, AMT dug that old tooling out & modified it again, this time into the "Boss Nova" wheelstander, which had the Hemi mounted in a custom chassis behind the driver.

The Model King had AMT do a limited run reissue of the "Boss Nova" about 4-6 years ago.
