JTRACING Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Here's a quick mock-up pic the body is painted sapphire blue. it still needs to be sanded and polished out. engine is built. I decided to leave it box stock only using paint detail.
stewart Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 I like the detail. Nice paint job and very nice engine. STewart
Flatearthman Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Nice build is that an AMT kit? if so what year?
JTRACING Posted April 24, 2011 Author Posted April 24, 2011 Nice build is that an AMT kit? if so what year? its the new revell kit
jon halt Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 really nice and great detail, i never even seen that kit
JTRACING Posted April 24, 2011 Author Posted April 24, 2011 body polished out. I wet sand with 2000 grit then I use scratch X, I find with the scratch X you need to apply about 3 or 4 times to get it glass smooth
bandit1 Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 mental notes: wet sand w/ 2000 grit and maybe a finer finishing grit and then scratch x about 3/4 x's! i am going to try this on one of my builds!
mikemodeler Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 That paint looks fantastic! How much clear did you lay on it to get it so deep? Looking great, should be a beauty when done.
JTRACING Posted April 25, 2011 Author Posted April 25, 2011 got the chrome trim all finished up tonight That paint looks fantastic! How much clear did you lay on it to get it so deep? Looking great, should be a beauty when done. 3 coats is enough normally. i use krylon crystal clear
JTRACING Posted April 25, 2011 Author Posted April 25, 2011 windows installed. and body/interior & chassis all stuck together now
Brutalform Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 (edited) Very nice and clean!! Love the detail. One nice feature with a Nova, is you do not have to go through a lot of BMF, as the cars usually had painted pillars. I have a new Revell Yenko Nova, still sealed, I just might start this one, after seeing your nice project. I remember the AMT "Old Pro" Nova, from years ago. I was not too fond of that kit. I was actually skeptical when I bought the new Revell. I am glad I did now. The new tooling is the bomb. Are the side markers and door locks PE, or decals???? Edited April 25, 2011 by Brutalform
JTRACING Posted April 25, 2011 Author Posted April 25, 2011 Are the side markers and door locks PE, or decals???? the side markers and "nova" scripts are kit decals. the decals have "427" or "396" for the front markers. the door locks are some PE from an old set I had laying around
MyBradKeselowski Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 That is looking super, I like it even without the babymoon's
FASTBACK340 Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 I use krylon crystal clear Wait a minute.... this is a rattle can job? Wow..... beautiful! Let's see it finished!

JTRACING Posted April 26, 2011 Author Posted April 26, 2011 It looks fantastic, James! Those red lines on the tires ... are those the kit decals? Also, what brand/color paint is that? yup kit decals for the red line, the color is dupli-color sapphire blue, DSGM4740 Wait a minute.... this is a rattle can job? Wow..... beautiful! Let's see it finished! yeah rattle can all the way, for the price $4.25 for a large can it does about 3 cars no problem and can go over any kind of base paint. the car is in the finished section now, it was a long weekend project started it thursday night and finished it up monday.
