Prime Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Hello everyone, I have been watching this forum for a long time. This is my attempt at building a model after so many years. The model I will be building is the Revell 1970 Challenger.
bandit1 Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 (edited) that is a real nice kit to build just one word of caution actually more like a tip to make it easier for you! along the hood where you glue the scoop on you may just want to hit that with whatever color your going to use first cause once you glue the scope on there it gets or at least got for me a little difficult to get paint up under neath there so again just think of this but other than that it is probably one of the best kit ive ever seen! which reminds me i have to finsh the paintwork on mine and get the decals on and maybe throw a coat of clear on and ill be done with mine! also if you happen to like me loose the hoodscoop look in the 70 aar cuda kit cause it may have one there that is not used hint thats what i had to do! Thanks, great tip. I'm working on this part now.
crazyjim Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 I started that same kit today - gonna be purple. I'm having thoughts of leaving the scoop off and using the high rise manifold. Planning on Pegasus Centerlines. I cut the grill out and plan to use some kind of mesh in there.
Prime Posted April 26, 2011 Author Posted April 26, 2011 Oops, I deleted the picture. these are my insperation pictures.
Prime Posted April 27, 2011 Author Posted April 27, 2011 Ok, I spent several minutes cleaning the body and removing a few mold lines. First challenge was to seperate the grill and lower valence, this came as a whole piece. I clued the lower panel to the fenders using a bit of gel super clue. Minutes later it was sanded and coated with Mr. Surfacer 500 primer. I sanded it smooth with 600 grit sandpaper and finally 1000 grit. I jumped ahead a bit. I painted the air cleaner Hemi orange and added the decals.
Prime Posted April 27, 2011 Author Posted April 27, 2011 I also added new panel line to the lower valence on both sides, just like the real car.
RodneyBad Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Nice work on the front end. major improvements. redid the fender lip too? Nice Aircleaner looks Sharp. Great sampling of your work.
diymirage Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 looks like your off to a great start this kit truely is one of the best out there and it looks like your building a great model out of it nice job on the front moldlines, these are often overlooked
Prime Posted May 3, 2011 Author Posted May 3, 2011 I was able to get the interior tub done and a few other parts painted a few nights back.
charlie8575 Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 that wood grain looks better than factory!!! I was just thinking that, too. That is a decal I'm guessing? Nice work so far, keep it coming. Charlie Larkin
