Davola
Hey all, just looking for some recommendations for detailing pencils... Will regular old colored pencils do the trick? I saw a thread about water-color pencils. Any type of these pencils are not that cheap these days and I just wanted to make sure before I spend the loot! Thanks for any info! george 53
Davola, Try useing colored pencils by Spectracolor. They have a set called the Design Series, available at Micheal's that is VERY handy for detailing Dashboard instruments and other various objects that need a touch of color. My set has 12 pencils in all the basic colors, and a few extra ta boot. It cost about 12 bucks, but with a coupon you can get it VERY reasonably! Try 'em, you'll like them!!! Hope this helps! Davola
Thank you very much George. I did see those at Michael's and held off because of the price. Now that I know they are worth it, I will grab them tonight!

roush16
Hi Davola. I have the best results with pastel chalk pencils. Its not regular colored pencil lead but rather artists chalk type lead. It shows up much better because the chalk is softer. Either way keep in mind that useing them on a flat paint surface yields the best results. Applying colored pencils to a gloss paint really wont grab as it is not porous and just wipes off.

Jantrix
Prismacolor pencils are also top notch for dash detailing.
