mrmike Posted June 17, 2011 Author Posted June 17, 2011 Don, the seat color is Model Master Insignia Red, thinned and sprayed through my airbrush.
mrmike Posted June 18, 2011 Author Posted June 18, 2011 Last night, I completed the nose with lights and grille. The rear vent with markers and backup lights are complete and mounted to the body. I completed the taillight assemblies last night before turning in. I took a page from my photoetch experience and used clear gloss enamel to glue the clear lenses together instead of model glue which would marr the surface if I wasn't spot on with part placement. More to come...
LAone Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 this is a great looking mclaren. the paint job is really nice and are you serious about the clear tails?? i cant even tell they are even on there.. keep up the great work.
Jim Gibbons Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 This is really looking good! For windows, lenses, etc., I use craft Tacky Glue. It's kind of a thick white glue, and I've had great results with it. I have the Testor's clear glue with the needle tip applicator, but somehow, I always return to Tacky Glue applied with a toothpick.
XJ6 Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Don, the seat color is Model Master Insignia Red, thinned and sprayed through my airbrush. Thanks...will be at my LHS today...Must get some..Good Day...
Jackson Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 This is really looking good! For windows, lenses, etc., I use craft Tacky Glue. It's kind of a thick white glue, and I've had great results with it. I have the Testor's clear glue with the needle tip applicator, but somehow, I always return to Tacky Glue applied with a toothpick. I also use Tacky Glue. I have some of the Testors Clear Parts Cement, but I have only used it once. I can't wait to see this build finished, Mike!
charlie8575 Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Another fine Mr. Mike build. Folks, I've seen his stuff in the plastic- it's as good as it looks, and all praise is well-earned. Charlie Larkin
mrmike Posted June 19, 2011 Author Posted June 19, 2011 are you serious about the clear tails?? i cant even tell they are even on there.. That's because the clear covers are not on yet! The covers are mounted on the outside of the body after the taillights are mounted on the inside. I have achieved a turning point on the SLR...the body is starting to come together! The doors are in process. More to come...
XJ6 Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Very Nice...wish i had used your color scheme...Looks Great...Thanks for the up date...Cheers
mrmike Posted June 20, 2011 Author Posted June 20, 2011 Thanks Don! And, you're welcome! I have finished my SLR and it is posted in Under Glass. I would like to thank all those who took the time to view and to comment on my build.
