Kaleb Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Ive searched google and found a few to get me started, What I need is all around side, front, back, underneath reference pictures. Does not matter what type of truck.
wreckless666 Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 well for starters are you looking to lift a 2wd or a 4wd? are you looking to do a 4 link setup?
ChrisPflug Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Big difference depending on what kind of truck- solid axle 4WD, IFS 4WD, Ford twin beams, custom with coilovers, 2WD prerunner, etc. All kinds of setups The truck's purpose will also determine what style of suspension and lift- something that flexes and has lots of travel for rockcrawling will look a lot different than a setup for mud bogging which will be tall for big tire clearance but relatively stiff to handle more horsepower. A desert racer won't be quite as tall but be setup for plenty of travel and have additional features like remote shock reservoirs for high speed use
Kaleb Posted May 13, 2011 Author Posted May 13, 2011 Well all that depends on how much work is going to be involved. I mainly want to lift it but I want a good looking suspension too. Honestly its not going on a truck....its going on a vw bug. My wife wants a girly car to be lifted lol. In scale its over a 2 foot lift just because of the tires wont fit otherwise.
Willie Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Josh take a look at some of my builds on my photobucket http://s46.photobucket.com/albums/f130/Wtsf150/ i'm np pro but i do know my off-road stuff LOL maybe there will be something there in my builds that can help you out and if you have any questions big or small please ask away also if your gonna do a build like that using a bug i would make another frame for it kinda like a subframe then either go with coil spirngs or the longer coilover shocks used on rock crawlers and monster trucks and as for axles to make it look somewhat tech correct go with some Dana 60's or some Rockwells thats just my own choices i myself dont reallylike to use the axles from the newer monster trucks but they would work too again if i can help out in any way please dont hesitate to ask Willie
Willie Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Hey Josh heres a few VW's that have been modified to four wheels drive and lifted big time And some people should not be allowed to have a cutting tourch and welder LOL check out the Scion Hope these can help out some Willie
Kaleb Posted May 16, 2011 Author Posted May 16, 2011 My biggest problem is the axle housing and the transfer case. She wants a Ford 427 for the engine because it has a blower on it lol. So im left with scratch building the other parts.
