Gregg said in his editirial that there were no April Fools gags in this issue, however, it seems to me that Truckers Corner this issue smells of one, with the Chrome in a Jar. Anyone have any insight?

I read it too and even thou Alclad is kinda the same thing with chrome in a jar, if its not an april fools the results look horrible, just by seeing those pics Ill stick with alclad.

This is not a joke. It is an alternate to Alclad and is much simpler to apply, though it can get messy being a "clinging" powder. I like the fact it can be applied to different base paints and colors. Black base gives a dark chrome while a silver base will result in a bright chrome. Blue will give it a blue tint.

Like everything else, your results may vary. Like Alclad, the smoother and glossier the base, the more chrome-like the result.

Nope, it wasn't a joke. Crazy Jim amd I went in together and purchased this gin jow stuff from Japan and got it in about a week! Jim's tried it, and so have I with mixed results. I'll keep it to see what ELSE I might be able to do with it, but since I got turned on to a chrome plateing service(the same one DRAG uses)i decided to just chrome plate my stuff rather than go the "Magic Dust" route.:lol:B):D

I haven't seen the issue yet, but if the "chrome in a jar" is like the SNJ metallic polishing powders it should offer a decent alternative to BMF or Alclad for repairing sprue gates and such on chrome parts.

The SNJ powders offer a nice alternative for bare metal finishes on aircraft for those without an airbrush.

Lots....I have seen it and as Mark stated...not chrome....BUT it does give a respectable nickle plate look over the right color gloss blue.
