Romell R Posted May 28, 2011 Author Posted May 28, 2011 ok first let me apologize for the slightly blurry pics I know I need to step back a bit,.....never mind! what i did today was fabricate the drivers seat out of aluminum. hope you enjoy the photos. Here you have the seat I purchased (kinda looks like a 1960's dragster seat.) First i made a template of card stock then i cut my aluminum sheet from the templates i made. heres the finished seat next to the purchased seat, sorry i didnt get any shoots in between. I was finished before i know it. Stay tuned for more to come tomarrow.
Mooneyzs Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Looking good. that Seat is awesome Man!! Great job so far.
Romell R Posted May 28, 2011 Author Posted May 28, 2011 Thx Chris Im back with another update I was able to get the steering setup in , and the seat support, I was also able to complete the driveshaft tunnel and safty hoops enjoy...... Here the steering setup is soldered in .... pictured here is the seat support...
Romell R Posted May 28, 2011 Author Posted May 28, 2011 Ok heres the 3rd part of todays update...... here I have the driveshaft safty hoops fabed up and i planned to use this aluminum tube as the tunnel but it didnt work out the way i planned.. Here the hoops are soldered in And here the tunnel has been soldered in Stay Tunned for more.
Dragracer Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 The chassis's coming out top notch, the brass looks good.
6bblbird Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Wow! That chassis simply blows me away! Fantastic craftsmanship. WF
Romell R Posted May 31, 2011 Author Posted May 31, 2011 thx fellas for the wonderful compliments Hey Fellas I decieded to cut my lenco tranny into pieces so i could detail it, but in do so It seemed to me that i could make a better tranny altogether. At first I planned to make it from styrene but a quick trip to my work shop and i found out I didnt have any left. So heres the new plan fab the entire transmission from brass! Can it be done? We'll soon see. Enjoy! heres the resin tranny pictured after i cut it up. these are the materials i'll use to build the new tranny... four differant sizes were cut from two differant sizes of brass tube. I cut round plates which will later be shaped as the connection or mounting plates for each section. (sorry its blurry) here im beginning to solder the end caps on, I think my soldering gun is poopin out on me............. I'll have more for you soon , gotta go buy a new soldering gun so i can continue.........cya soon.
Mooneyzs Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 (edited) Romell.... this is getting good. You have a great start on the tranny and I know it will look good when you are finished. I ran across some pics of a Pro Mod Daytona this weekend and made me think of your build. Not sure if you have seen them but maybe these will be a little inspiration...... hOLMS Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Oh yes, I'm really diggin your brass chassis work, I have one of those going too (pic below). Been taking a break from it for awhile though to try a styrene chassis. You're making it look easy and those are usually the best! Makes me want to work on my brass/copper some more! Great work, I'll continue to watch this, for sure. Hope you don't mind me throwing my pic in, just admiring your work and relating to the work it takes to do these.
