speedy5963 Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Just finished spraying, DBC white basecoat under HOK Kandy Apple Red B/C with Dupont Chroma Clear.
Jon Cole Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Candy Apple Red, indeed! Make sure nobody sinks their teeth in that! Nice!
speedy5963 Posted June 5, 2011 Author Posted June 5, 2011 Thank you Jon, it came out pretty nice. This was the first base coat candy I've sprayed and did not know what to expect, have always used the urethanes
Ryan S. Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Beautiful color. I can't wait to see where this is going.
Jim Gibbons Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Sweet! I like where this is going. Man, I just got a 40+ year flashback on building the Monogram '36.
speedy5963 Posted June 6, 2011 Author Posted June 6, 2011 Thank you guys, this is the Revell/Monogram kit, pretty fun build!
Guest Markus355 Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 ooks GREAT.. but what are you going to do about the seam? i have 2 of these kits and the roof and body dont line up at all
Foxer Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 I tend to "judge" paint online by the reflections ... this passes with flying colors!! Very nice.
charlie8575 Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 That is a pretty little coupe you've got there. I like this very much. Charlie Larkin
speedy5963 Posted June 7, 2011 Author Posted June 7, 2011 Thank you for the comments, I considering setting the top prior to painting but I was concerned with getting the glass set at the end. When I press it down it looks pretty good, but we'll see. Going to take some time but I think it will set well
62rebel Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 regarding the seam; imho if the rest of build is exemplary and all that remained was this engineered-in quirk thanks to the kit maker.... fuggedaboutit! let it ride! there are many ways to deal with it, but all require invasive "surgery" to the kit that some folks aren't comfortable with. i'm entranced by that shiney paint, myself.....
BOSWELL891 Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Very interesting color choice i like it. This is one of my favortie kits very fun to build
speedy5963 Posted June 8, 2011 Author Posted June 8, 2011 Thanks for the comments guys, the color is actually a bit darker, just showed up lighter in pics. Will get another pic posted soon as more work is being done
Ron a.k.a. Grouchy Pants Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I cant wait for more. That paint looks terrific!!!
BigEdsGarage Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Looks great so far. Awesome job on the paint also.
