I just picked up the April issue and I was pleased to see an article about the Uncertain T by Tim Boyd. I am having trouble understanding the article as it seems to leave off in the middle, like a page or two were left out. Tim? Is there more to follow? Or is this an April Fool's prank ;)

Tim, had I known you were writing the article, I would have sent you a couple of photos of my Uncertain T and the trophy I won with it. For those who weren't building model cars in 1966, Monogram had a contest just for the Uncertain T at hobby shops around the continent. I entered the contest at my local hobby shop in Montreal, Westmount Hobbies, and a few weeks later, I was awarded the trophy. I have no idea how many entries there were or if I was the only one, but now, 45 years later, I still have my Uncertain T and its trophy, and I am still proud of it.

The accompanying photos show the model in 1966 as I held it (my Mom took the photos) and a more recent shot including the box. I did rebuild the car about 1986 as it was damaged from moving and I painted it the same colour as I did in 1966, but a little better ;)

No, it is not for sale or trade nor will it be donated to any museum. I plan to be buried with it...eat your hearts out

It's funny how customs work. This particular kit never held any interest for me, as it was too weird for my tastes. After reading Tim's article on it, it's kinda funny that with all the old Monogram customs being REreleased that this one hasn't made the cut. Too bad, caz even though I STILL think it's weird lookin, I wouldn't mind try my hand at it. Nice Job Howard, it STILL looks just as weird as when it was new!:blink::rolleyes:;):P

Being part of a show rod group, I heard a story about why the car was retired and why the kit cannot be re-issued (the molds were destroyed). I was talking to a resin caster who is thinking about casting the kit in very limited quantities and I have a standing order but it may not happen. Sometimes the lore is better than the reality

That was my fault.

Tim actually submitted a more complete build-up article, but it was a case of having only room for two pages in the issue. It's a long story, but given the scheduling, the number of pages to fill, etc., at that particular time, I had to leave out much of Tim's article. I try not to do that if possible, but in this case I specifically had two pages to fill... and so I took Tim's feature and condensed it way down.

It's hard sometimes to juggle all the material we have to specifically fit a certain number of pages, but that's the trick. We have a certain number of pages to fill, and depending on how everything works out, pagecount-wise, some things have to get edited down.

Perhaps a small note explaining the editing? I would rather see a complete article for one model than two partials.

A little late for that now.

Like I said, it was my fault, I screwed up.

It has already happened. A guy in Australia sells copies on ebay for $85. I believe that was in the article. I went to ebay and he had one listed just a couple of weeks ago.

Can we post the full article on the web site, like we are doing with the photos?

I'm learning more of the Drupal programing slowly, and I should get the hang of it soon.

I'd have to create it first.
