A guy at the NSRA Nats East asked me if I could professionally build (whatever THAT means ! ) a 1/8th scale replica of his deuce roadster, but I would need a small block Chevy and 8th scale wire wheels. Any aftermarket people doing this engine in resin and possibly a source for the wheels? I don't want to buy entire 8th scale kits to get the parts if I can avoid it.

Thanks.

Not resin, but highly detailed. Many options are also available, just google TDR Catalog (click on TDR Innovations homepage) and browse through their online catalog for prices & specs.

You can pick up a Big Tub from Hobby Lobby (or from their online store) for $75 shipped this week, and that kit will supply the SBC as well as lots of other parts. Pick up a re-issued Big Deuce for $100 and you're mostly set.

You might see if you can track down some Pocher Mercedes wire wheels, but I'm sure they'll be incredibly expensive. You can get period-correct stock tires here ($25-$35 each):

Here's a bookmark I use for checking out 1/8 kits and parts on eBay:

There are a couple of 1/8 small block Chevy engines there right now.You might also be able to get one from one of the 1/8 Corvette kits.

Chris Garcia in California is the best source for wire wheels. Here's a set he made for my 8th scale Deuce build.

If you send him the tires you will be useing along with a detailed description of what you want, he will build to order. These are not plastic or resin, they are real metal wire wheels. Chris can be reached at woodythx138@mlode.com. I've been to his place and seen some of his other wire wheel customer orders and I highly recommend his work.

In regards to the SBC, I have the TDR version and its a very well done kit.

Hey Lyle there is a fellow by the name of Mike Gradis that deals with big scale kits and parts he has a company called E-Duece he most likely has the parts that you would need for a complete engine. I bought one from him a few years back Mike also used to advertise in Scale Auto.and can now be found on E-Bay.
