The following are build-ups of the old Monogram kit.

This one won 3rd place (I forgot the category but may still have the trophy around here somewhere) at an IPMS contest in San Diego. White stripes are painted, and the red stripes are automotive pin stripe tape.

This one was in the same contest, and didn't get any attention at all (I personally thought it was the better of the two models). The rear tires are from a Monogram NASCAR kit, and the front tires are the kit's original rear tires.

I love performance Fords, and most of the models I've built (and will be building) are in that genre. In March, I returned to the hobby after a 23-year hiatus, and after completing a Gato-class 1/72-scale sub for my dad, I've finally started building cars again.

I just got back into the hobby and it is funny that one of the first things I said to myself was "I have to built me a Cobra". I have this crazy idea of a Deuce Cobra.

About your models and the attention they got in contests it does not surprise me. I never really understood it, but apparently some things just rate well at contests and others don't. I built few high tech Ferrari rods way back and peopple didn't even look at them altho they were mostly scratch built. Meanwhile a detailed box stock '32 got lots of wows and ooohhhhs.

I like the red one better too, John, although both are very nice builds! The Cobra is a small car and sometimes looks too "busy" with big wide stripes, IMHO. Nice work on both!
