tim08 Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 (edited) This is my first model on this site. I built this for my father several years back for his b-day. It's my take on his first new car. Except for the hubcaps, all re chromed with alclad, and bare metal foil. First try at detailing the engine bay a little. Tried the wires, scratched the coil, and plumbed the master cylinder, wired the battery. Body is primer, glossed with future, top is airbrushed testors white. And white walls hand painted acryl. I'm sure whoever here who has built this old amt kit knows the fit issues, I had them all! Anyway, he loved it, still has it sitting up in their living room. Edited June 20, 2011 by Tim08
LAone Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 wow, this looks really good. didnt know primer could look this good when cleared over. im sure your dad will love it.
charlie8575 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 I have to agree, that cleared primer does look pretty good. Very nice build on that. Charlie Larkin
W-409 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 I was suprised how good the cleared primer looks! Great paintjob on the body and colors are nice. I like the engine detailing, done very nicely. Interior looks good too, it's well detailed. But is it 1/25 scale, or bigger? It looks like AMT's 1/16 kit, but can't say surely from the pictures. Model is nice anyway.
tim08 Posted June 22, 2011 Author Posted June 22, 2011 Thank you. Yea, my Dad likes it very well, and the glossed primer surprised me too. 409, thanx, it's the old 1/25 scale kit. The molds are very wore out, lots of work to get it to look decent.
Rob D Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Very nice! I love it. I just finished the identical AMT kit and believe it or not did the exact same thing you did - gave it to my Dad for Father's day. I noticed that yours had 2 optional sport mirrors while the one Dad had only had one on the driver's side. I just got on here to put up the pics of mine. What a coincidence.
