Brad-M Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Is there a way to back date the 1950 Chevy pickup to a 1949? I have the AMT 1950 Texaco kit and wish to build it as a 1949 single rear window pickup. The Texaco 1950 pickup kit has the two small windows either side of the rear window. TIA Brad
Chuck Most Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 '49's were available with the quarter windows, too, so they'd still be correct for a '49. But to answer your question, you'd just need to fill in the quarter windows with styrene. Replicas and Miniatures Company of Maryland makes a regular cab without the quarter windows, but IIRC, it's chopped.
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 They had 3 and 5 window cabs in 49 also. Filling the windows in isn't much of a problem.

Nate Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 (edited) Is that the one where they ruined a perfectly good restored truck to make some sort of rat rod I don't think it was restored, I think it may have just been in really good shape. Edited June 23, 2011 by Nate
Brad-M Posted June 24, 2011 Author Posted June 24, 2011 Yup, that's my plan. Thanks for the help guys! Brad Use the corner windows to fill in the area and then use some filler/putty to finish it off. I Owned & restored a 1950 GMC Deluxe cab PU. Sold it to buy a house, I sure miss my old Jimmy. Oh well happy Modeling...
