GrandpaMcGurk Posted August 14, 2011 Author Posted August 14, 2011 Here's a few more mock-up pics....
GrandpaMcGurk Posted August 16, 2011 Author Posted August 16, 2011 A few more mock-ups with the rear fender added. I'll be using brass tubing to bend up some handle bars.
Mooneyzs Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 This is coming along and looking great. It is one cool build.
GrandpaMcGurk Posted August 19, 2011 Author Posted August 19, 2011 Thanks Chris..... I must have bent up a foot and half of tubing before I got the bars to look the way I wanted and match from side to side. Seems like (at times) what I think should be a snap to fabricate drives me nutz.
crazyjim Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Looking large, Don. Can you imagine hitting your chin on the bars while at speed?
GrandpaMcGurk Posted August 19, 2011 Author Posted August 19, 2011 You're making me grin, Jim. In another life I flat tracked a Harley (dirt track). I have the nose to prove it........broke it 4 times along with fingers, ankles and several other bones. Young and stupid (at the time) I guess....now I'm older and the young part has long since left the building, however......the stupid part remains.
Foxer Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 That is some serious reinforcing on the front fork ... and triangulated to boot! NO ones going to snap that off.
Sixties Sam Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 This a really cool project, and it's looking great! I'm eager to see it finished! Sam
GrandpaMcGurk Posted August 21, 2011 Author Posted August 21, 2011 Woo, woooo....it's got some paint, now I can get started on the engine and sprockets.
crazyjim Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Looking excellent. I like the Marine Corps colors of red and gold.
GrandpaMcGurk Posted August 21, 2011 Author Posted August 21, 2011 Thanks JIm, originally I was going to paint the tank & fender black with the frame red.
jbwelda Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 great progress, and love those white tires. cant wait to see it with motor in place! maybe someday you can share how you bent those bars? did you anneal them first?
John Teresi Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Don......very cool project ,you got going on.......very nice scratch building......look`s GREAT!!!!!
Harry P. Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Thanks JIm, originally I was going to paint the tank & fender black with the frame red. Would have been a better choice.
Old Sprinter Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Don this thing is cool looking. I like the color choice, looks racey !!!
GrandpaMcGurk Posted August 22, 2011 Author Posted August 22, 2011 Would have been a better choice. Think I'll toss it in photoshop and change the color........... may re-paint it that way Harry.......the tank and fender aren't permanently attached yet.
GrandpaMcGurk Posted August 22, 2011 Author Posted August 22, 2011 Didn't feel like messin' with photoshop this a.m. so I printed a pic and took a marker to it. After looking at it....think I'm going to stay with the red & yellow.........the black & red scheme looks fine but just doesn't fancy my tickle.
Corvette.Jeff Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Love it! Im doing the same thing(sorta) in real life at the moment. Im taking a 1955 western flyer mens bike, swapping on some 27" track wheels, and track bars, now i gotta find a suitable engine, im thinking a 12 hp. briggs will suffice.
