Brutalform Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Resin MCW, kit and decals. Amt 60 Starliner chassis and engine.
george 53 Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Nice build. I bought a resin body like this (with the same thing in mind) at a toy show with the hood molded in.Very nice clean white resin.Don't know who cast it, but it is a very nice casting. Yours came out VERY nice, I hope mine looks half as good! Great job.
roadhawg Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Beautiful replica of a beautiful drag legend! The only fault I can find, and it's not YOUR fault, is the decals appear to be incomplete.....it should have "BAM SAM" on the trunk. Everything else is perfect. The stance, the colors....perfect! Great job!

Great job! Yes...No "BAM SAM"!!! or "BBARC" on the right rear tail panel either. ( I don't really know what those letters mean?) I was a bit disappointed, but its OK. I really enjoyed this build. roadhawg Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 How difficult was it to fit the resin body to the Starliner chassis? This really makes me want on of these for my collection.
GTMust Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Love seeing these big old Fords as period builds. My hat's off to you! Tony
Guest Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I really like this! That is a really cool drag car! Makes me want to build one with my old '61 kit. Nice work!
Brutalform Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 How difficult was it to fit the resin body to the Starliner chassis? This really makes me want on of these for my collection. I used the AMT chassis, and firewall. After the interior tub assembly was all together, it required some sanding where the firewall, and the rear part of the front wheel tubs meet. The body casting is a little thick, so it took a lot of trial fitting as the door panels, and dash area were real tight. The windows had to be cut perfectly, or they interfered with the final assembly. There was some notching of the front, and rear of the chassis so the bumpers would fit. The rear axle was narrowed on both sides, as much as it could be to fit the slicks, and larger rims. It really was not too difficult at all, though.
Brutalform Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 (edited) Real nice pics Dave!!! I remember you posting that it had the Weld rims and all. I also notice it now has two cut outs in the grill for fresh air, and the T-Bolt style "teardrop" hood!! Sweet car. If I am not mistaken, that car recently sold, or was being sold, on Mecum Auctions. I wonder if it sold, and for how much? Thanks for the kind remarks everyone, and thanks Dave for the killer pic. Edited August 24, 2011 by Brutalform
