This is my new project. Starting it out from Trumpeter's new Falcon Stock Plus kit. Kit looks good, very high quality parts, and there are lots of them. Also tires are looking very realistic, but I'm not using them for this build. I'm gonna fit '55 Chevy Pro Sportsman tires to this body. Also I'm using a 572" Big Block Chevy.

First I started cutting the chassis. I removed the old inner fenders, and then I cut more from the chassis plate. Now tires are fitting nicely, but I must make new wheelwells there... Also frame needs to be done again. The engine is an old "glue bomb", which presents as a 454 BBC, but there are not so many diffenences between Chevy Big Blocks, so now it is 572 BBC. I sanded it a bit before stripping the paint off from it. Now I'm trying to get old paint off from it.

I will cast some resin copies from that engine, because I need it for other projects as well. I'm not sure about the quality of my castings, but I'm going to try my hand at that...

Thanks, Tyrone, Andy and Mitch! I'm using the Chevy Power just because I'm having one Chevy engine... I could make some resin copies from Hemi too, but that's Mopar engine, so it doesn't fit into my mind... :D

Thanks, John! And here you go an update, not big but something to show.... I was bit busy yesterday and didn't get too much done for this build... But the engine paint is now stripped off, and other smaller parts are ready too for resin copies. I'm going to try casting them today, and maybe it needs few times of practicing before I'm making good looking parts.. But also found front wheels for this, they fit nicely to Pro Sportsman kit's tires. Those wheels can be found from AMT's '66 T-Bird Customizing kit, for example, and maybe from some other kit too...

I got the first resin copy out of that engine. It turned out pretty good, but I must make few little things for it and some sanding before I can glue those engine halves together. I need this 572" engine for three projects, so I must make pretty many resin copies from it. Tunnel Ram- manifold turned out Ok too, but I haven't cast cylinder heads or valve covers yet.

that big-block looks like the one from Monograms '70 Chevelle kit, but molded in green plastic? any idea what kit that originally came from?

I don't know. I've asked that also from Finnish Car Modelers Association forum, and someone said that it could be from Monogram's '39 Chevy... I have no idea of it, but it's just like Chevelle's engine.

could it be the max rat 67 chevelle pro streets engine? it was molded in greent way back when

and there was a thames panel van molded in that colour, but it was a small block.

Yup, thanks for the information! And Thanks Richard! Max Rat Chevelle is an older release of this kit? http://www.hobbylinc.com/gr/rmx/rmx852870.jpg If so, it has 396"BBC and it is truly better detailed, as you said. I've built one and that engine was great. This just looks like old Monogram kit's engine, and they were molded very often to color.

Thanks, Steven! I believe that the engine is from that kit too. Today I'm going to start working with those resin copied parts, and I must cast few more. Also I need to find correct material for the rear wheel wells, somekind of bottle where I can cut correct size pieces.

Here is two pictures about the resin copy of that engine. I glued the halves together. I had to do some sanding before they fit nicely to each other, but now they are looking Ok. Next I'm going to put some bondo and then sanding, and maybe that engine will look smooth after that...

Niko... this is going to be a great build. It is off to a good start. I have some pics of a pro street Falcon from a car show from years ago. I will try and find them and post a few pics up for you when I have some time to dig thru my pics. Keep up the great work on this.

could very well be from the '39 Chevy kit, that was molded in light green at one point.

the big-block from the Max Rat Chevelle pro street was 1/25 and molded in lime green plastic. it's also much better detailed than the older Monogram 1/24 scale block. the engine in the Revell Thames panel is an Oldsmobile and that was molded in metallic green plastic, at least it was on the last re-issue.

ah ok, didnt know it was an olds, only time ive seen that kit was a boxless old built up given to me by a friend.

Thanks, Jim!

Chris, Thanks for the nice words. And It would be great to see pics of that, hope you find them somewhere.

Today I put some bondo to the engine. Now some sanding next, and then maybe more bondo. It's bit rough, even if it is good mold (for me, I'm still practicing...). I'm also trying to find material for the wheel wells on the rear end...

Do you have PVC pipe out there? I have a piece of PVC that's about the correct diameter for tubs and I'm pretty sure it was originally intended for a sink drain. It has a much thinner wall than PVC for water under pressure.

I don't have that yet, but I must get something like that soon. I think, I can find it from local hobby shop, and that's really great. :)

Thanks, Jeff! The progress has been quite slow, but I've sanded the engine. It's still in rought stages, but hope these two pictures help to see, where I'm at. It needs still some sanding, but maybe today, or tomorrow I can paint one primer coat on it, and then I can see how many mistakes there are and what to do with them. Frontend of that engine is the worst part, which needs lots of sanding.

Primer coat is now painted to the engine. It needed pretty much sanding before that primer, but now I can see how much it needs bondo and sanding. And it needs some more work, of course.
