highway Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 The easiest way I could think of is with lights!! OK, now that I got the joke out of my system, I've seen a few different style LED light strips at Walmart that just might work for what you need. The one I was looking at a chrome finish around the outside and comes with 5 LEDs. I didn't really pay attention to the price of them, but they also eliminate another problem too, they are battery powered, so you wouldn't have anything to plug in. The only downfall of that would be the length of time you'd have them on, if they are on only now and then, they should work fine for you. If you'd have them on for long periods of time, you'll be buying stock in Energizer!
highway Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Here are a few I found @ Walmart.com, and the first one is like the ones I've seen with the chrome surround. http://www.walmart.com/ip/GE-3-LED-Utility-Touch-Light-White/16561411 http://www.walmart.com/ip/GE-6-LED-Utility-Remote-Controlled-Light-White/16561412 http://www.walmart.com/ip/Rite-Lite-12-LED-Under-Cabinet-Light/7942766

crazyjim Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 How about a strand of LED Christmas tree lights, Neal? Might be hard to find right now, but they'll be in stores soon.
Aaronw Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I've been designing a display case and plan to go with LED lights. I don't know how handy you are but LEDs offer a huge variety of options particularly if you are willing to cobble something together. Another plus is they don't use a lot of power and create very little heat. Here is just one site that shows some of the options available. http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&Page2Disp=/led_prods.htm&gclid=CN7VqaS5raoCFQFvbAodyE-TUw
ra7c7er Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 You could use flexible LED lighting. that is what I use for all sorts of small space applications. Lowes and Home Depot at one time could even custom cut lengths of it. Now I think you can get kits to make your own lengths.
DanielG Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 (edited) I wind light-rope around the inside of the cabinet. Edited August 1, 2011 by DanielG
MonoPed Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Gotta agree with LED as the best choice. The last thing you want is a buildup of heat from halogen puck lamps.
