Aaronw Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 (edited) My "local" Hobbytown had a couple of large boxes full of bagged (no box) Revell snap kits. There were 4, a modern Corvette, Hummer H1, '57 Chevy and a 4th that escapes me. I'm wondering how wide spread these are. It was kind of nice because I really don't care about the boxes, and these kits were being sold for $7.99 which suggests the box adds $7 or 8 to the price. Has anyone else seen these being sold? Aaronw Posted August 9, 2011 Author Posted August 9, 2011 I was wondering if they might have been a special deal that the store received. They really are not sturdy enough to hold up to shoppers. Lots of bits on the bottom of the box from bags that had been torn open. Dave, it wasn't the Camaro. I'm waiting for the production version kit Revell says they are doing to build the new Camaro, but for $7.99 I would have snagged one to build a phantom 2010 Firebird.
ffreak Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 I would second what the first post said. I still have some PT kits left over bagged like that from leftover make-n-take kits from one of our club shows. I seem to remember some Porsche Boxster kits like that too.
mikemodeler Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Michaels' used to hold an event called "The Knack" which was a Saturday build at their stores. I remember going there with my daughter and she and I each built one of the Concept Camaro's from Revell. This was about 4 years ago and then I remember seeing those same kits in their closeout section for $5.00 each and I drove to every Michael's I could find to scoop them up but only got 3 more kits. They also did that with the Impala police car kit and I was able to 3 or 4 of them. Revell is great about offering up the kits cheap (basically at cost, I think) for events in the hopes that it will generate interest and future customers.

Scale-Master Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 They also offered a '70 Chevelle WOF in the bags...
Guest Johnny Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Used go go right to the source and buy the bagged kits back when they were built up north of me!
