Alyn Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 (edited) Here's the newly improved version of my scratch built go-kart. I put it under glass a few weeks ago, but some good eyes caught the lack of a fuel tank. I added that as well as numerous other details. Very worth while, as the added detail has really brought this thing alive. So here's the completed model: and finally, one more parked next to my new fence... Edited December 10, 2011 by Alyn
Ryan S. Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 This was cool the first time around. With all the details it's even better. Nice job!
Jon Cole Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 It's different; it's unusual; and it's nicely detailed!
RodneyBad Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Awesome looking Kart.. The detailing looks Excellent. Just need a little Stig figure to drive it.
made007 Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 wow niice work can you compare it to a car in a pic to see the size of it?
Dr. Cranky Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 That is so cool. Great job. It looks fabulous in yellow.

You mean you posted your model, received some comments from members, took the comments as intended and not as a personal attack, reworked your model based on the comments and suggestions, and re-posted the improved model???!!! Does anyone else know this can be done?
John Teresi Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Alyn.......this is so cool man......wish i had one.
Harry P. Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Oh, I almost forgot to ask... I didn't see the "before" version of this. Is it a kit or scratchbuilt?
Alyn Posted August 15, 2011 Author Posted August 15, 2011 (edited) You mean you posted your model, received some comments from members, took the comments as intended and not as a personal attack, reworked your model based on the comments and suggestions, and re-posted the improved model???!!! Does anyone else know this can be done? Harry, I'm sorry; guilty as charged. On the plus side, being well behaved is a disease that can be cured. Maybe an intervention is in order. Here's a picture of the "before" or pre-detailed version. Other than the seat which came out of the AMT Competition parts pack, the kart is entirely scratch built from raw styrene, brass and aluminum. The tires are slices of fuel hose. So John, with your scratch building skills, no wishing is necessary; just build one. Because of your photo skills and the use of natural settings, I've been trying to up my game in the camera department. Jose, this will give you an idea of the size of the kart as it sets on the back of a Revell 29 Ford pickup truck. Yellow was picked on purpose to match the truck. Edited August 15, 2011 by Alyn
Harry P. Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 I'm impressed! Scratchbuilt, and fully detailed too! Very nice...
Art Laski Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 I liked it before, now I like it even better!
Sixties Sam Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Excellent work, Alyn! Great detailing, really makes it stand out! Sam
MikeeD Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Wow, that's an incredible amount of detail for such a lil' rig. This is what modeling is all about. Id love to see more of this kind of thing...pit racers...bar stool racers...hot rod wagons...motorized bicycles...come on guys...lets get creative...this one rocks!
funhouse1 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Wow, it was sweet before but the additional detail makes it even better...
IceMan Collections Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Thats a sweet kart! I saw an old motorized Kart 1/10 on eBay not too long ago.
gasser59 Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Love this lil' thing. Glad you took the suggestion and made the tank and the other improvements. The driver may need to wear chainmail or something similar on his right arm or have permanent grill marks.
gasser59 Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Ok, after studying the photos a bit more, I want to know what the wheels are made of if the actual tires are rubber hose. This kart is killer and I think I'm feeling the need to build one. What did you use for reference on the engine?
Dominik Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Amazing Alyn, amazing! If you dont need this crazy build, i send you my adress. That is really amazing and a good idea, to make the same...perhaps, if a have the time...
Greg Wann Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Very nice! I give great praise to anyone with this kind of talent. Scratch building is a real talent.
jbwelda Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 i thought for sure it was 1/12 scale or bigger, man thats really some great work for 1/25! looks great and the added detail really did multiply the effect!
